We'll never know how good these girls could have been. Middleton hit 21 in her MDAA contest and won the skills challenge. I am by no means impressed with this kid right now... But I can see where she could have been used better. . . Same for Nia. Dam that kid has a ton of ambition. Dikembe Mutumba was much smaller in comparison to her and her opponents. But Mutomba was a force in the NBA.

Just a side note, but UCONN best be aware of the Baylor Bears. Everyone is talking about South Carolina and ND as the two teams with the best chance to bring UCONN down. I am predicting the Bears as the team to bring UCONN down. I have watched most of Baylor's games which were broadcast on the FOX Sports Network. They simply look awesome. I really would like for it to be the LV's but I am a realist. :good!:

Agree. Baylor looks really good and I think have a better chance. SC has some weak points; ND is well coached, but reality will set in sometime. That said, it is uconn's to lose.

Lets get back to the subject matter....

This team is now playing to its potential. If we do as I predict we will do and beat OSU,,, we will play SC again (Theoretically) . . . If we play SC with the mindset these girls presently have, we will not only beat SC, we will put them back in their #2 place.

The UT lady vols are STILL composed of 7 MD AA's... ANd of the 7 McDonalds AA's on this team... 6 are slated to return ... 2012 Graves (graduating) 2013 Russell, Reynolds, DeSheilds. 2014 Middleton, Nared, 2015 Cooper

This is the recruiting edge we have that can't be argued. The growth in this group must continue...Part of that growth will be what this team has accomplished in getting to the round of 16...And a more discernible growth will be when she reaches the plateau we were slotted for on day one of this season. Final Four.

This page is getting national attention, as indicated by the nearly half a million looks. Lets give them something to think about when they look from afar

If we can get Kamera Harris to sign during the spring, I think we can survive next season. Now we MUST sign a super 2017 class. Maya Dodson, KK, Anastasia Hayes, Makayla Coombs and another Elite post player. Reynolds and Carter will be leaving after next season. Hayes and Coombs would be to excellent replacements. We really need to sign Christyn Williams out of the 2018 class from the state of Arkansas! She is going to be special. A big guard that will be a match up nightmare. Also Charli Collier out of the 2018 class, she is the #1 player and at 6'4", she and KK would dominate the front court. If we get to the Final Four, I think it would be a recruiting boost.

I believe that the recruitment boost is already there by the fact that from a 7th seed we have done what most thought was impossible, reached the elite 8. A final four is only gravy. The recruitment ball is in Holly's court, can she seal the deal?::thumbsup:

We need to hire Kevin Punter to work with the guards on their shooting. He went from 31 percent three point shooting to 39 percent in one season by changing his shot. If he could make our 25 percent shooters into 33 percent three point shooters we win everything next season.

Dorie Harrison should be that other elite post (I hope). Still holding onto hope that Walker or Booth want to follow the footsteps of Lady Vol greats of the past.

If Dykes wasn't at Arkansas I would say we had a chance but he has been locking down his state

Coach Barnes was responsible for altering his shot to incorporate better mechanics and technique.Punter then put it to work by thousands of shots ....repetition.So all that needs to be done is walk across the hallway and ask Coach Barnes to give these ladies some tips on shooting.

Nothing against Arkansas, but I seriously doubt Christyn Williams signs with Arkansas. She is ranked #3 in the 2018 class and seems to want to be on the big stage. Even with a bad season, we came in at #2 in attendance. Arkansas does not have the fan base and support as Tennessee does. Elite players want to play on the big stage. Ask Kaela Davis. GT's arena stayed empty and they did not have the support as other big time programs. If we jump over this Elite 8 hump tomorrow, I think Tennessee may be back on a lot of Elite recruits' radars.

I would like to see us sign two post players and a three point specialist that can guard in April or next month for 2016. That would out us at 11 players which would at least give us enough to practice against each other. At the same time would like to see at least two top ten 2017 players sign with us. I hope it is our busiest month in recruiting ever. Hope we get at least five signees in April.

Right now we have nine returning players! Assuming no one transfers? That leaves us with 6 (SIX) scholarships to use if we could get anyone to come here???? If we do end up with a zero for 2016 !!!!! You can add at least two more scholarships to that list! Or 8 (THATS EIGHT) scholarships available for 2017 ! Hopefully, we can get someone to come as we cannot even scrimmage without an assistant or manager making us have ten to be on the court at one time???

Maybe we can find a good high school team that they would all want to come and continue to play together? Since it takes so long for Holly to get players to want to play together?

Let's hope this Elite 8 run can get some of those top recruits for 2017 to seriously consider coming to Knoxville. We will have to pick from dog scrapings for 2016 since all 2016 recruits are basically going elsewhere. I think there's what 2-3 of the top 150 that haven't signed a LOI yet? Surely we can get at least 1-2 of the top 150 to sign back in Knoxville for 2017.

Well, what do we have to pick from for the 2016 class? That's what I was talking about. We don't have much to choose from do we? That's just being totally honest. Maybe it will be better for the 2017 class but we are not going to have anything for the 2016 class except what's leftover right now from the ones that haven't signed elsewhere. What's wrong with those honest comments?

I agree with you Tony, it is still hard to imagine that a famous D1 program can't recruit one player of any stars. Holly should admit that it is an embrassement to the program. That is a real program setback. Holly's excuse of we don't recruit just anybody is only a defensive excuse for a program she is making infurtile. Can she recover? I believe she can, but first she has to analysis where she and the staff failed and come up with a recruiting game plan better than the 2016 plan. Flush the 2016 recruiting plan, or lack there of, down the toilet. With this staff she needs outside help.

She also have to give recruits hope that there is a prize at the end of the rainbow. Recruiting top players on the hope they will reach the sweet 16 is not a winner as opposed to hope that they will play in a final 4. Recruiting on the Lady Vol name, by itself, will not do it any more. Too many young recruits look at such things as, "that was then and this is now." She needs to totally change her coaching style, which will mean a change in coaching philosophy and a change in coaching personnel.

The issue is, can Holly identify the recruitment mistake and take corrective action? Can she analysis her coaching philosophy and make changes? The coach for Stanford changed her offensive philosophy because it was outdated. Look how aggressive Stanford is now. Look how they can hurt you inside, outside and the dribble drive. Before this year Stanford played mostly an inside game with a little help from the outside. Tara has vision and realized that in the new era of basketball a total inside game is not what will get you where you need to go. She, because of academics, seldom have a bunch of five stars. Holy, hopefully, will have 5 five stars on the team. She will be the HC, so the ball is in her court.
