Id rather catch Cobras with me bare hands, than watch 9 innings of baseball.

98% of the time is standing around. 2% of the time the ball actually moves.

Let the debate

I agree if we're talking watching on TV.

Live games can be a lot of fun though. Since the game has a slower pace it can be more laid back and give you more time to chat with friends, have a snack, go get a beer, etc. than football games.

I get what you're saying, but football is not perfect in this respect, either. Sometimes there are as much as 30 seconds between plays and longer if the clock is stopped. Baseball is more laid back, I am a true fan. I get enjoyment watching the fielders get ready, watching the baserunners, chatting (as someone has mentioned) and the best part is that baseball is the only sport where you never run out of time. You theoretically always have a chance, until the last out is made.

Once again, the "doesn't understand baseball so they think it's boring" crowd starts chirping. So weak.

I would be interested to see how much time a ball is actually "in play" in an average game.

Pitches, ball in the field of play... I'd even give you runners on base since there is interplay going on between the pitcher and runners at that moment. That would boost it up quite a bit

Anyways, let's move on

Did you know that the football is only "in play" for like 15 minutes a game?

I grew up watching the Braves, Cubs and Mets on TBS, WGN and WOR. For a sports loving kid, that was all there was to watch till the weekend. I love baseball, it is a beautiful game, but unless it is a big game, I very rarely watch it on TV anymore. Still love to go to games when I get a chance.

Baseball certainly needs to speed it up. The pitcher is usually the issue. That, and the management of pitchers late in the game.

A clock for pitchers along with substitution changes late in game could make every baseball game 2 hours and a ton more enjoyable.

Same for me but no Mets. It went from my favorite sport to the equivalent of tennis pretty much. Can't really put my finger on what happened. Maybe it's because I have less time. Maybe if baseball season was shortened to 100 games. Sitting down for 2.5 hours to watch 1 out of 162 seems like a waste of time now. Idk.

Every sport is not for everyone. I personally think baseball is boring. But if baseball makes you sit on the edge of your seat for 3-4 hours, who am I to criticize? I personally can't get into soccer and percentage wise the ball is in play far more than about any sport. I think it comes down to scoring. I can't get into any sport where the final score is 3-2. Same way with hockey.

I was originally an Oakland A's fan, but when we got cable when I was in the 8th grade, I fell in love with the Cubs. I don't watch nearly as much as I used to, but I still enjoy it when I take the time. I totally agree about going to live games being much better than watching on TV.
