Just looking at the week 2 schedule, the best games besides ours are:

Texas Tech vs. Arizona State

BYU vs. Utah

Washington State vs. Boise State

South Carolina vs. Mississippi State

Florida vs. Kentucky


One of the latter two will get the SEC network to come to town, but I doubt either will be enticing enough for gameday. Washington State and Boise State seems like a stretch.

IMO BYU vs. Utah seems like a likely destination for gameday with the rivalry and both teams coming off pretty good seasons. I think Texas Tech Arizona State could be a dark horse for it, though. It's a cross conference game and TTU's QB, Mahomes, might be getting hype as a dark horse Heisman candidate leading up to the 2016 season.


All in all, I think The Battle at Bristol has a better storyline and atmosphere than all of those other games and seems like a natural fit for gameday. But I'm not sure what their history is with neutral site games and if that will be a problem for us or not.

Ok, I checked wikipedia and it looks like Gameday has opened the past two seasons with neutral site games. Last year Bama and Wisconsin in Arlington and FSU Oklahoma state in 2014 (also in Arlington). Also in 2009 and 2010 they opened with the Chik-Fil-A kickoff games in Atlanta (both neutral site). So they're open to neutral site games.

The bad news is that I haven't seen them travel to neutral site games other than week 1.

I think they will be there, never been a crowd of 150+ before

They're at neutral site games all the time. Texas/ Oklahoma in Dallas....florida/ Georgia in Jacksonville....I'm sure there are others

To be fair though, The UF/UGA game and the Red River Showdown are exceptions though. They've got history and precedence on their side.

The Battle at Bristol will be a one-off game.

History will be made at Bristol. ESPN is insane if they aren't there to be a part of it.

I know this'll sound insane... but I kind of don't want ESPN there. They'll make it about the lawsuit the entire time. Guarantee it. I've lost respect for that network.

It has so much potential.
