CBJ allegedly tells Drae Bowles he 'betrayed the team'

Well, if they are found guilty despite his testimony I don't see what difference it makes...I also don't see how Maggitt beating up Bowles, if true, has anything to do with what happened the night(s) before.

Whether his testimony is instrumental in convicting AJ and Williams or not, IF he has two sworn contradictory statements, he has committed a serious crime in the eyes of the court. It would also speak to his credibility as a witness.

all jumping on the Drae Bowles story, and whatever Dave Hart has to say tomorrow, it probably won't be good enough to silence the critics, short of announcing the university is in search of a new head football coach.

At this point, it doesn't matter which story from Drae is true as they are both "sworn affidavits" and contradict each other. I would think that would make it damn new inadmissible. Also, whatever he said in either account that isn't re-stated in the other is now questionable at best as he's now an established liar.

Not talking about that, in Bowles statement to the grand jury he stated he had no knowledge of a rape taking place at the party until the following day. But in this new affidavit all of the sudden hes playing hero and going with her to the hospital so on and so forth. Now if he truly found her in that state outside of the party wouldn't that be a huge help to the DA in proving the alleged victim was in distress?

And 66 I just wanted to thank you for having a healthy conversation about this without anyone getting mad or arguing over difference of opinion.

I appreciate that.

Again, if this goes to trial, which is a big if, he will get grilled on this topic by both sides and it will depend on what he says as to whether or not he's "credible".

If you're trying to get me to say he's not credible at this very moment because he's told different accounts, I think he was under a lot of pressure and if it comes to it, I'll wait and see what he says.

This.... He and all the accusers can make up and change all the stories they want. It only helps UT in the long run, UT's lawyers will rip them to shreds.

It would definitely be a big mistake on his part. Seems though this lawsuit has been so well calculated they would have caught it before amending the lawsuit. No idea just my thoughts

The outside lawyers UT has hired will be doing the shredding, the UT lawyers might be witnesses.

Post number 2 guys.

Actually, post number 2 in this thread is "whoa".... :)

The article simply quotes Drae as having said that Jones called him back and apologized. I'm sorry, but Mr. Bowles story has changed multiple times throughout this. I'm not sure I believe him when he said that Jones called him a traitor much less that Jones later apologized about it.

I'll wait until I hear corroborating statements before I take Drae's word for it.

Not trying to get you to say he's not credible, I just think its unfair to ALL parties involved to have a witness with contradicting stories.

I think it will be interesting if the evidence and transcripts from the Johnson/Williams case are made public. And the timing of it could be the most important part, its going to destroy one of the two sides in this thing.

What absolutely has to happen if UT wants to walk away unscathed from this......

TN HAS to wait for the AJ Johnson-Michael Williams trial to take place and those to be found not guilty. And that sucks because the plaintiffs are going to release anything they can to make TN look bad to force a settlement. Including unprovable "he said-she said" statements through the media.

Unfortunately, this is going to mean a LOT of bad press in the short term, again, trying to force a settlement.

Once an an acquittal comes down from the trial the plaintiffs are DONE. Then TN MUST file defamation charges against whoever they can (within reason) to restore their status and to demonstrate that you cannot simply make allegations and "get paid". You better have something to stand on before making those allegations.

I think TN knows that the Johnson & Williams trials will come down in their favor and are willing to take the hit "short term".

All of this is simply the plaintiffs trying to force TN into settling so it will all "go away". One thing that I have seen is local media saying that paying the plaintiffs off is the way to go just to make this go away. I've now reached the point that if this stuff isn't true then TN MUST fight back.

Enough is enough......

Unfortunately, if TN settles it's tantamount to an admission of guilt and will encourage others to simply allege "something" happened to get paid.

All of the above being said, TN had BETTER be in the right......

You are 100% correct.

I think Kristy is referring to my post...immediately after I posted it my wife walked in from work and she said "you look like you've seen a ghost."

I realize it may not be true, but it's a shocking allegation...maybe oh $h!& would have been better. :)

The Grand Jury would have had her testimony as well.

So are authorities able to listen to past calls or only just see that a phone call was made? If so in the affidavit #195 Will show whether Bowles is just half full of crap or completely full of lies and crap. Easy to trace phone records just not sure of whats said in those calls.

Even it the statements in the affidavit are proved false, the damage to UT is done and won't soon be repaired. Every news source is running this story, and we are being portrayed as totally guilty. This includes everyone, administration, coaches, and players. I guarantee every recruit and their parents have seen this and are concerned, to put it lightly. This release in combination to all the other negative stories is an absolute killer. I'm really down right now.

I get that, but a key witness in both cases has contradicted himself in 2 different courts. So it would appear he is against the girl in criminal court but for her in civil court.

You cannot lie to a grand jury, it could potentially wreck an entire case and lead to mistrial down the road. I know the jury will be asked to look at this objectively but how can they now with contradicting stories?

Why would Bowles make this up?
