Press conference at UT tomorrow

It was a PR conference for the coaches to have a chance to defend themselves and their program. Nothing significant was disclosed or said. Haters are gonna hate thou and the press is going to pick apart this like vultures they are until every piece of decayed meat is gone.

Just saw on Twitter one assclown in the media tried to claim Warlick said that the sex accusers were "disgruntled". That idiot didn't realize she was referring to former employees of the AD. Its clowns like this who is in the "media" today.

That's exactly why an hour long presser was idiotic

Too long for the vultures to pick apart portions of it.

The more said the more will be used against us IMO

Yeah, we should have said nothing and just let the country keep thinking that our school is a den of rapists and woman beaters that are being sheltered by the admin and coaches.

It was an hour long recruiting infomercial. Had little to do with winning a lawsuit.

It was an endorsement for UT. Was there more after the one coach said his players were shocked to hear of what and who was being accused? I only saw about an hour of it.

Huh?

10min showing of solidarity would have been very good

An hour too much ammo for the vultures

Well, I didn't get to watch the press conference but at least I got the VN report that clarifies everything.

I'm really glad and pissed that the coaches showed their support and disregard for the students, and said all the right and stupid things that were needed to protect and vilify the University and to fight and fuel the lawsuit.

The truth is always found somewhere in the middle :D

Edit: Except when it comes to Gruden of course

Maybe they aren't afraid of the vultures and want to set the tone of they believe in what they and UT stands for, it's gonna be a long and draw out dialogue that will help improve UT, Tennessee, and America. Face the adversity head on, and prove.

I got the feeling from this that the plan is to see this thru and to not settle the law suit just to make it go away. Bring on the microscope.

Like I said, today's press conference has nothing to do with whether they'll settle or not.

It would be completely ignorant to do anything but want the "vultures" to drop this subjects

Anything that fuels that fire is a bad move

The law suit says the Athletic department has created a culture of rape. They were saying that is not the culture that is being created, and then went on to say they foster a culture that is something that the fans can be proud of.

Well to be fair, this is the same place that declares a NC with the first win and our first 8 loss season with the first loss.

Probably best just to reserve judgement until you get a chance to see it yourself.

Of corse the bad publicity that this creates is something that we all want to be dropped. But as a leader in ye community UT should be happy to take the lead on this culture conversation. If they are being honest and truely want the best for the "kids", to sweep this chance to address sexual misconduct under the rug, would not be the right thing to do.

It was a good idea but poor in execution.

The conference should have been brief. 10-15 minutes at most. To much rambling. Have one clear and concise message.

I fully support them saying something

I just think an hour long presser was to long and some ammo was given to the haters because too much was said

Actually the only rambling I saw was Holly. I think she's feeling the heat and wanted to show her devotion to UT but came across as desperate.

I think they left out a lot that needs to be said. They showed respect to the alleged victims along with showing support for the accused.

I thought this was going to be about the culture of sweeping sexual misconduct of athletes under the rug. Maybe some specifics about the lawsuit filed against UT by six women and why it isn't true.

Instead of that, we heard how all the coaches get along with each other. We heard how some coaches go to the other coaches games, etc. What a waste of time, and maybe a huge mistake. What say you Volnation?

No, you're not getting it. Again, this is a societal issue. Has been for a long, long time. You seem to imply that UT doesn't counsel these athletes. They do....over and over again. Still, there will always be some who refuse the message. That's reality. It's also a bit short sighted to ignore the elephant in the room. If we are being brutally honest about this, the lessons about drugs, alcohol, how to treat women with respect, etc SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE AT HOME. That's the primary responsibility of the parents, but in many cases, despite the best efforts of the parents, people get off track and go astray. It's the human condition. No amount of talk will stop someone with bad intent. It's nice to talk about programs, steps, counseling, etc, but evil exists. Bad things will happen. Sorry, but you need to live in reality. Not saying we shouldn't try, but let's put the damned blame where it belongs....the individual committing the crime. It's not the woman, it's not the school, and in many cases, it's not what the family taught. It's the individual. Go after them hard and heavy. Punish the individual.

You obviously didn't see my post where I said I think Butch is doing a great job, and I wish that had been spotlighted instead of female coaches saying they tell the females to make good decisions. That was said at least five times.

Meanwhile on the radio they just described this press conference as a train wreck, so I guess I'm not alone.

I love Tennessee and UT. Went there myself, have family in Knoxville. I do not want people talking about us like we are trash. I just don't think what they said today was helpful or relevant to the issues we are dealing with. A good PR pitch does not help in this type of situation.

I don't know. She took on two issues that none of the other coaches did. She basically called out Jennings and DOWN played the logo issue, which flies in the face of a percentage of her supporters.

While I agree in general that she and Barnes sometimes ramble or hem and haw...her stance on those issues was a strong one.
