I think that a sitting Pres should go to the funeral of an acting Supreme Court Justice, whether the Pres hated the Justice or not. It shows respect for the office.

My mom taught me "if you think you should go to a funeral, you should go". I just drove 400 miles to go to a funeral of someone I only met a few times, but I respected them. So I went.

It not only reflects his disdain for Scalia, but also the Supreme Court, and our country. His parents must have continually praised him about how wonderful he is when he was growing up because he's so arrogant.

I have no problem with your opinion, but actually Obama staying home ( playing golf ) shows no respect for either the Supreme Court, OR the Office of the Presidency. Sometimes, one has to man up and do his job, whether he likes it or not.

I was shocked to learn that recent presidents have attended the funerals of justices only about 50% of the time. I don't care which side of the aisle you're on; that is strange unless you have another urgent commitment.

That is correct. Presidents have missed the funerals of retired Justices. Clinton did not attend Marshalls funeral, for example, but Marshal was retired

Ah, I wasn't aware that it was only retired justices. A quick Google search shows 65 years since this particular situation has happened.

It's not worth outrage, but it's pretty crass. If it was RBG I guarantee he would be there.
