From Nigerian, Obinna Eze. Didn't see a thread.

“I like Tennessee a lot,” Eze said after a pause and a smile. “That’s the first college I’ve ever been to in America. The reception from Butch Jones…it was good, man, trust me. Tennessee felt like home.”

The junior blocker has already made his way to Tennessee’s campus twice and has a positive vibe toward the Big Orange.

“I like Tennessee, I like Tennessee,” Eze told InsideTennessee. “Like I visited the game against Oklahoma. I like it.”

“Man, I’ve got to tell you,” Eze said, “Tennessee probably ranks top 3 of giving me chills of American college football. It’s unbelievable, man. The first day I went there, it wasn’t on a gameday. I just looked at it and said, ‘OK, I’ve never seen anything like it before.’”

IIRC - immediate suspension from the football team. I don't think the players were suspended from the university.

Edit: You said "by" the university - maybe I misunderstood what you were saying?

Correct. University policy to be suspended from the sport they play, but not from attending their classes.

Very possible but also adds some smoke to the cover up stuff IMO

That doesn't qualify as a cover up. That is protecting a kids name when you don't have all the facts and letting it play out. A cover up is working with police to forcefully make something go away. That wasn't the case with Marlin. You don't scream to rooftops you have a investigation ongoing. Every school in America does this. Majority of what the suspension says it is isn't the real reason. Coach has a right to protect his players publicly

Mark Howard on 104.5, who has no affiliation with UT, and not someone I'd call a Vol fan, was absolutely RIPPING Sean King and called him a "scumbag with an agenda". Says that this is rehash of what's already been known, he's not defending Mannings actions, but does state that the details are from the plaintiffs side of the argument and should not be construed as pure fact. Howard called the whole thing a hack job.

When you don't even attempt to contact the other side of the story you make pretty clear your race biting agenda. Dude is trying to launch a career based on race.

Agreed if that is what actually happened

We don't know details at all

According to the Tennessean, CBJ suspended Marlin Lane for "disciplinary reasons" four days after he was accused of sexual assault. Lane wasn't arrested or charged, and his accuser declined to pursue the case.

"According to police documents, the alleged assault took place after the woman and teammate Gerardo Orta had consensual sex, while Lane watched, moments before the incident took place. The Daytona Beach, Fla., native was never arrested or prosecuted following the accusation and an investigation conducted by the University of Tennessee Police department."

Where's the coverup? A complaint was filed; an investigation was opened, completed and closed. A rape exam was performed and witnesses were interviewed. The accused was suspended while the investigation was active. The accuser refused to pursue the matter, because she didn't want anyone, including her parents, to know. The accused was reinstated when the case was dismissed.

Why was there investigation if the accuser declined to pursue the case?

How was it ever an issue at all?

Did she change her mind?

It was an issue because she contacted UTPD and filed a complaint, automatically triggering an investigation. She could have contacted KPD, but chose not to. The investigation was pursued and remained open, until she declined to move forward. It was seemingly a weak case, with insufficient evidence for an arrest warrant. And she didn't want to make it public.

I don't Know about the situation but the following Happens all the time. Woman accuses man. Police have to investigate. After nothing is found, woman admits to lying and just being mad about being a one night stand or some other reason they were mad. Unfortunately there are a lot of people that don't understand the consequences of false accusations when involving the law. It's really disturbing how many false accusations come in daily to police. It makes it really harder on the women that actually did go through horrific events because their is immediate doubt that it took place because the majority of reports these days end up false

Thanks

Anytime a "victim" recants isn't the a possibility someone got to her to convince her not to pursue the case?

It's the accuser's choice to pursue or not pursue charges. This particular accuser did not want it made public and specifically did not want her parents to know. That undoubtedly influenced her decision.

This happens all of the time. As a criminal defense attorney, I see it alot. Even when a case is charged, you have victims (most of the time, girlfriends) who don't want to prosecute. It's for all kinds of reasons.

Makes sense for sure. Hopefully that is the story in the context of the current lawsuit

Also doesn't clear anyone of all wrong doing either.

One other thing to note: the accuser chose not to involve KPD in the Lane case. When the local PD is called and an incident report taken, it becomes a matter of public record. This happened in the Johnson, Williams and Pearson cases. UT commented publicly on those cases, because those accusers chose to make those cases public.

Gainesville PD was called in the Harris case and Tallahassee PD was called in the Winston case. Police reports were filed, the media accessed them and took the stories public, which is why UF commented publicly on those cases.

Different circumstances-- different responses. So far, no evidence has been presented to implicate UT in a coverup-- though some are trying hard to spin it that way.

If anything, UT should be praised for how swiftly they suspended players just for being accused. OU let Joe Mixon rearrange a girl's face and his only punishment was having to redshirt his freshman year.

Zing! And I agree completely.

Good grief now Stephen A Smith claiming Peyton owes everyone an explanation on this. Lol I swear these activists are a bunch of idiots

Whitlock calls out Shaun King (not the quarterback) | ProFootballTalk

Interesting stuff about Shaun King the fraud from Jason Whitlock

I always like reading whitlocks stuff, this King guy looks like Johnny Depps character in Fear and Loathing in LV. This happened 20 years ago and is he said she said. Stephen A wants Peyton to talk and by listening to him he has already pronounce Manning as guilty. Hopefully Manning sues this King guy for defamation of character. Maybe he'll say Manning is racist towards a white guy claiming to be black

One thing people have misrepresented on here: UT did not settle a lawsuit with this woman over the Peyton manning incident. They settled a case with her over 30 alleged incidents, one of which was Peyton manning mooning her.
