Speaking of chicken. All of you in Murfreesboro will be getting a Slim Chickens soon. I definitely recommend it.

Whoa, they're already getting that far East? They started here in northwest Arkansas, and they're by far my favorite chicken tender place. Massively popular here, putting zaxby and Raisin canes out of business.

If it all messes together

Slight worry with that for me. It's why I wanted continuity. A returning top 20 defense did a hell of a lot correct

We have the same exact position coaches and 8 of 11 starters returning so I wouldn't worry about continuity. The same front, concepts, gap assignments will make this as seamless as possible considering he DC is new.

I can't remember if this has been covered before, but does Shoop run a 1-gap or 2-gap scheme?

I just moved out to Oklahoma recently and Raisin Canes is so overrated. Slim Chickens is definitely my favorite.... And now I'm gonna go get some for lunch. Ha

Beyond overrated. I really think Slims will put them out of business, other than wherever it originated. I'm at slims at least twice a week lol. Grilled tenders tossed in hot sauce, man they're good.

I was a little worried about this at first too. After seeing that it's the same gap scheme, I feel much better. In fact, I think we're in for a pleasant surprise because it's the same basic defense, just more aggressive.

I would say that odds are you are correct. Everything points to an upgrade yet sometimes things are just hard to explain when teams don't mess. Don't expect that to happen but it is in the back of my mind

Another factor going for us is the element of surprise, which helps for the first half of the schedule at least.

Despite the high ranking of the 2015 defense, I didn't feel like they lived up to the preseason hype. It was probably those early season games. Mostly, it was the Florida game. The BG and Arkansas games didn't help. They certainly had dominant moments.

Lived in Jenks for awhile, The few things I miss out there was High School football and Braums. I know it's not chicken but dang their burgers and ice cream were just incredible.

'01 was really good and could definitely be argued. '05 season was a waste of an elite defense.

Many of those '01 guys were playing a lot in '99, which is why I consider it the best and deepest.

We had four future NFL DTs with Darwin Walker, John Henderson, Haynesworth, and Rashad Moore. Ellis and Overstreet at DE.

Raynoch, Westmoreland, Dominique Stevenson, Eddie Moore, Keyon Whiteside at LB.

Grant, Fred White, Goodrich, Lott, and Gaines in the secondary.

Wasn't Tony McDaniel on that 2001 squad as backup DT? I remember him turning pro as a backup and going second round. That's beastly depth and Saban said that was the most talented team he's ever seen personally.

I personally think this 2016 defense will go down as one of the best defenses in Tennessee history. Talent may be the best top to bottom of any defense in Orange. Secondary is just silly talent wise. 😁
