So during the Dem debate tonight there wasn't a single question to Hillary concerning the FBI investigation. I guess I really shouldn't be surprised.

Yes... but it's been in the news again as recently as today! If the situations were reversed do you think it would have been brought up in a GOP debate? From what I've seen there hasn't really been anything off limits during those.

It just seems like they are absolutely trying to hand the Dem ticket to Hillary with very little vetting occurring.

If you really want to make a difference to the people in your community then find a good church and tithe as much as your wealth will allow. Much more good will be done with your money than the corrupt gov't could.

For a couple thousand years up until the early 20th century, that was the only social safety net. Now it (the current safety net regime) is a borderline criminal enterprise.

If has been my experience that in most cities there are better organizations to give to if you actually want to help the poor vs giving to a church.
I donate to my church and we do help, however a shelter or a kitchen that feeds the poor will help a large number.

My family plan got canceled because of 0bamacare and the alternative was $5k more. I got a new job and now Bernie wants to cancel my company's HC plan that my family is on and put us on a national plan that probably blows vs my UNH plan

I've heard a few in this thread say things about how liberals wrongly see the constitution as a living document. Regarding that:

Do you feel the bill of rights should apply to state and local governments or only to the federal government?

I don't know about yours, but serving the poor and those on the fringes of society are a big priority in our outreach ministries. The people participating in them do it for free so each buck goes farther to impact more people.

My experience with urban outreaches run by cities are rife with inefficiencies and corruption. My experiences may be different than yours.

I go to a smaller church. We have an average attendance of around 150. We don't have an "outreach ministry".
Our help is usually from a member that knows someone or a family that needs help and informs the deacons of said need. We have had a few come in off the the street and ask for help.

I am sure the larger churches can and do help more people for obvious reasons. I just enjoy the fellowship of a smaller church vs a mega church.

The outreaches I was referring to are not run by the city, these are small self funded organizations As with most organizations there probably is corruption, however one can actually see the work they do in feeding the poor, delivering lunches to the elderly, supplying school supplies etc.
I try to give to my church and a couple of these groups. Our church actually takes up a collection once per month for one of the groups I am referring to.

Well, I would like the states to observe the bill of rights, but originally it was just rules for the federal government. Post civil war amendments that were passed illegally changed all that.

This is what I'm talking about. Even though the church might not run it, you can trust their judgement in its tacit endorsement of said group. They kinda vet the group so your fellow members can be reasonably sure the money is going to a good place.

I agree. I don't feel they should apply to state and local governments, but I would hope that most state constitutions would include similiar provisions
