2016 Election

But it's turning the wrong way. Intellectualism is frowned upon in the GOP because it makes a candidate seem "too boring". They want a draft dodger who makes joke about Rosie O or a pathological liar from Canada who's idea of foreign policy is to "make the sand glow".

Where were we in 08 and 12? We had 100% establishment candidates running for the GOP nomination and now we have a field that ranges from 100% establishment to businessman to libertarian leaning. A diversity of ideology, just imagine where we will be in 20 or 24 if this keeps up. Change is slow but it's happening. If more people would participate in the primary process all the way down to local elections we could speed it up.

Now look at the Democrats, there is no diversity in ideology, none. It's the same spiel from both candidates just wrapped in different color paper. The only Dem candidate who could have possibly gained my support and is realistic didn't last past the first debate, Jim Webb. And I on a personal level do not like Webb, met him a few times. Wrap your brain around this, if Bill Clinton of 92 was making his first run at the Dem nomination today, he wouldn't stand a chance. Bill would be to right for today's Democrats.

In other words Christi showed he was smarter and thinks on his feet much quicker than Rubio. Christi saw he rattled Rubio and poured it on. Rubio did not know how to respond. That should give those supporting Rubio a pause. I think it shows he is not ready.

Compare the way Rubio responded when attached vs Cruz when he is attacked. I don't like Cruz but he is a fast thinker, much quicker than Rubio. I have now marked Rubio off my list of possible candidates to support.

Smarter is subjective. I'll go into detail more later when I'm not at work and on mobile.

I do. I guess you would've preferred we started a nuclear war?

Kennedy caused the crisis, backed himself into a corner then gave away the farm to get out of it. You should try doing a little history research from time to time.

You're only two none establishment candidates are a pathologically lying Canadian and a draft dodger who's only real plan involves making one liners about celebrities and Obama

Caused the crisis?

Assuming you're talking about the bay of pigs, Eisenhower should probably take the majority of the blame there. Kennedy had barely been sworn in when it went down. But either way, it's another example of how successful the interventionist foreign policy of the right has been.

Yes. He put missiles in Turkey prompting the Soviets to do the same in Cuba then Kennedy ordered the blockade. To end the crisis he not only agreed to remove the missiles in Turkey but others in Germany. All done in secret.

Those are good things to agree to. Reagan was a big fan of disarmament.

What does Reagan have to do with Kennedy's **** up and lies covering up the mistake? You said you believe Kennedy handled the crisis well, a crisis you didn't know he caused.

You believe Cuba wanted nuclear weapons solely because of weapons in turkey and Italy? And you're accusing me of not knowing history?

Does that make any sense to you?

You think Cuba had a part in the decision to missiles on they're soil?

I'd think you would have to have a semblance of knowledge of the subject to teach it.

Where'd you go? What would you have done different?

From my perspective it was a great deal. Russians didn't want our missiles in Italy and turkey. We didn't want theirs in Cuba, and Cuba wanted to be left alone.
