Barton Simmons and Mike Farrell both think Brown is trending away from Vols and toward AU after this w/e's OV. The feeling is that Brown had a great time at UT and loves the Vols, but his relationship with Rodney Garner gives AU a slight edge.

That may be totally true, but I'm confused how they know with Brown shutting down communication

Just sharing what they're saying. VQ is reporting that they've talked to people at UT and are hearing that Auburn leads with Brown and this may or may not be a final decision. That's it until Tuesday, when the Browns will call the schools not chosen so his spot can be given to another player. Again, just passing along info.

This summarizes what most AU insiders are saying. The real wildcard here is whether he and family went to Tuscaloosa from Knoxville as Bama was pulling out all stops to accomplish.

Auburn: 7-6 (2-6) SEC in 2015. Kevin freaking Steele as the DC. Gus Malzahn on the hot seat.

Tennessee: 9-4 (5-3) SEC in 2015. Bob Shoop as the DC. Butch Jones not on the hot seat. Possible championship run in 2016.

Which one is the easy choice? I'll wait.

Would you be saying the same thing if the records were reversed?

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

Tennessee is historically a better program than Auburn will ever wish to be. We're on the rise and they've took a big step back. I can't speak for him myself but I would rather go to a school whose coach is safe on the job instead of playing for a coach who could be fired the next day.

So even if UT were trending downward, as some claim Auburn is, you would still choose it over Auburn if it were trending up dramatically? Wow.

Where did I say UT was trending downwards? Was you asleep during the Dooley years when we were going 5-7 every season? You're trying to change the subject and that's not my point, right now Tennessee is doing better on the field. (W/L wise) Records speak for themselves. We've come a long way from where we used to be and right now, Auburn is not at its best.

You guys realize nobody knows what this kid is gonna do. So rather than saying I don't know, the "experts" guess. But rather than saying it's a guess, they make it seem as if they're hearing from sources so they can continue to have readers. They know in a week no one will remember they made a mistake on Brown.

I personally wouldn't sweat anything until after Tuesday night. The Browns have handled their recruitment with class. Its everyone else that has behaved like fools.

Great post.

"Derrick Brown - While there are some reports out there that the visit went poorly for Tennessee we don't believe those to be accurate. From all indications Brown very much enjoyed his visit to Tennessee and the Vols are still a real player here. Now, as we've said, Auburn liked its chances heading into the weekend and given the recent history of Rodney Garner at Auburn vs Tennessee (Devonte Lambert, Carl Lawson) you probably still like the Tigers chance. But, he's indicated to some that a final decision has yet to be made."

Good news, but still sounds like a long shot in my tea leaf reading opinion. Do you think coaches wait till Wed at 3 or grab another player on Tuesday/Wed AM if they don't have great vibes?
