A for sure take is junior college defensive end Jonathan Kongbo. The five-star defensive end hosted the Butch Jones, Steve Stripling, Robert Gillespie and Bob Shoop on Thursday as Tennessee stayed from morning until about 3 p.m. local time.
But, Tennessee didn't make the trip to Canada and we believe that was more of a decision on Kongbo's part than Tennessee as they were prepared to make the trip. Both Robert Gillespie and Steve Stripling have met with the family before so it's not like they haven't met anyone from Tennessee.
But, with Hugh Freeze visiting both Kongbo in Arizona and his family in Canada on Wednesday, the Rebels seemingly have become a very real threat. The family has always liked Hugh Freeze so that's worth noting as well.
From talking to a few people in Tallahassee Thursday night, the 'Noles are still expecting him to make it to town for his official visit.
Right now, this one feels like anyone's guess after feeling like Tennessee had some momentum last week.
Hmm...something doesn't add up. Why would Kongbo not want our coaches to visit his parents? If you say that maybe it's because he's a done deal to TN and Kongbo told them it's not necessary, then what does a little extra time with the parents matter, if the coaches are willing to make the trip? It only helps grow that relationship more. It's like he doesn't want them to see something that is there. It would make more sense that there was no need for Freeze to go to Canada, as it would be a waste of his time. These type things happen consistently with Ole Miss and Auburn...when recruitments just don't add up, it usually means the recruit is going to one of these 2 schools instead of yours. Hope I'm wrong.
He wanted them to spend their time recruiting other players for his new team.
As much as I want to believe that, I just don't think that is the case. I hope I'm wrong. I'm wondering if Freeze and his "people" made contact with the parents after he committed, and convinced them to get Kongbo to decommit and "consider other offers". Use the excuse that it wasn't right to be committed and take other visits. For a talent like him, I guarantee you Butch would have said he could stay committed and take his visits. Osborne took visits while committed, as did Alexis Johnson. Butch didn't tell them to decommit first. If all it really boiled down to was his parents felt it wrong to be committed and take visits, then that's fine, and I would guess he ends up back where he began...TN. If he ends up at Ole Miss, I'm not as sure that was the entire truth. JMOTIFWIWLEAVE4DISNEYTOMORROW!!!

Nobody is gullible enough to not realize that all big time programs offer "incentives" to recruits. You'd have to be living under a rock to believe otherwise, but it's so odd to me that it's always Auburn and Ol' Miss that seem to close the so much ground right at the end. It's my opinion that they take the incentive thing to a whole different level.
Good post. I say this all the time, but its amazing how Auburn and Ole Miss are always the two schools that miraculously sign these high rated kids or get in on them and land them at the last second. I'm sure Tennessee cheats too as all major programs do, but Tennessee under Butch has never had a situation that made me stop and say "hmm". Auburn and Ole Miss have multiple situations like that every cycle. It's so obvious that they are cheating and nothing is being done. It's a farce.
