Looks like UT is not the only school using its 'African connection' to lure Kingbo.

Former Oregon Duck Bo Lokombo, a third-year linebacker with the CFL’s B.C. Lions, is trying to steer Kongbo to Eugene, where Lokombo arrived as a redshirt freshman in 2009 after graduating from W.J. Mouat secondary in Abbotsford. As did Kongbo, Lokombo moved to Canada with his family as a child to escape sectarian violence in the war-weary Democratic Republic of Congo.

Lokombo, who describes himself as Kongbo’s “cousin,” was recruited by 10 NCAA schools in his Grade 12 year. But the opportunity to stoke interest and offer an unfiltered, unique perspective direct from the athlete — bypassing the media as middle men — is so much greater now.

Those bastages.

Nobody's arguing whether or not Saban gets top talent, he obviously does. The debate is if he's better at winning championships than teams who regularly bring in similar talent/top 5-10 classes....teams like USC, FSU, LSU, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida, etc....and he clearly is.

If he always has more talent than his opponents, why shouldn't he win every game?

Because it's not a video game. it's not just stats. It's real live people (kids?) who make great, extraordinary plays and also make stupid, bone headed plays....plus refs, etc....

Imagine this kid coming off the edge opposite of Barnett.. Then eventually opposite side of Phillips. A Kongbo/phillips duo is so much speed

The rankings have some subjectivity to them, as evidenced by each of the major services having variability in their individual player and composite team rankings. And I would very much disagree that, on average, there is much of a difference between #1 and #5. The most talented teams don't always win, in any sport. There are a lot of top programs in the country who bring in elite talent, year after year after. I've listed several of them....many of which haven't sniffed a national title since 2009....while Saban has finished #1 four times. If you don't see that, that's fine, we're clearly at impasse. But there's a reason why Saban has been mentioned as perhaps the greatest college coach of all time...and talent accumulation is only one piece of the puzzle.

Maybe this is a reach but 247 guys were blind sided with the Tre Nixon commit where they had zero crystal balls for Ole Miss before 3 local guys went with the OM cb at the last moment before he went public.

Shurbutt is doing a little CYA with the Kongbo flip. The kid hasn't even visited FSU yet and he is crystal balling him there without anything pointing towards him landing there other than him having a visit lined up for next week (which still may not happen).

Yea, I'd love to hear JCs reasoning for this.

Of course it could be like Bruin has been saying. This kid is impressionable and FSU having last visit puts it in prime position. JC could be hedging bets based on kids personality, without any real inside knowledge.

Kid likes the SEC. Bama was in then out quickly. SEC math class perhaps? Parents want him close and maybe he wants some distance. Tallahassee is a long way away, and not in the SEC.

In subsequent tweets, JC said that his predictions are based in truth. But he's not saying they're always right.
