'16 AZ DE Jonathan Kongbo UT Signee 2/3/16

If Kongbo has the measurables and Strip is the coach we think he is then this kid could be an absolute monster. Those 36.5 inch arms mean that no tackle will be able to put a hand on Kongbo before he's got a hand on them.

For a guy who runs a 4.7 at his size that's just another level of mean.

It is always a wonder to me how you get a guy like Barnett. Ordinary measurables, but extraordinary production. As some like to say..he just has that dog in him. I wonder if Kongbo has that in him.

This is the $10,000 question. Hope the answer is yes (if we get him). Hope not, if we don't.

CBJ would say, "We have a profile..." Andd the references he has made to it indicate that profile has factors beyond height, weight, and 40 time.

I guarantee when they run Barnett through the combine he shows up in the measurables department. He is strong, quick, and explosive. Those qualities will play well. Also, he does have the proverbial dog in him.

So Saban doesn't win with talent?

He has a lot of talent for sure. But the idea that he just signs a bunch of talent and then doesn't have to organize it, develop it, motivate it, scheme for it.....well thats just silly.

A lot of programs and coaches bring in a lot of Top 5 and Top 10 talent within range of Alabama on a regular if not annual basis....none of them have 4 titles in the last 7 seasons. For example, since 2007, Saban's first year at Bama, here are some notable teams that have several top recruiting classes according to Rivals....

LSU- 3 top 5 classes, 7 top 10s
Ohio St- 5 top 5 classes, 6 top 10s
USC- 5 top 5 classes, 8 top 10s
Texas- 5 top 5 classes, 5 top 10s
Fla St- 3 top 5 classes, 8 top 10s
Florida- 4 top 5 classes, 7 top 10s
Georgia- 1 top 5 classes, 6 top 10s

So, in that time period, 9 years, those "who's who of college football programs" have a combined 4 National Titles...same as Saban. There's a whole lot more to it than just accumulating the talent, which Saban certainly does better than anybody else....you gotta know what to do with it, which, again, Saban also does better than anybody else.

Nobody has to like Saban, I certainly don't, but everybody should give the man his due...he's earned it.

Five #1 classes in 6 years is unheard of - scheme or no scheme- he should be winning or playing for national championship every year with that kind of talent advantage.

Big thanks to @USCCoachHelton for the opportunity to visit USC #FightOn

But that's the point of my post. There are other coaches, other programs that have been within earshot of his recruiting classes almost every year.....most don't have 1 title, while the others only have 1....he has 4 at Bama and 1 at LSU....and if he went to virtually any other Power 5 school in the country, he'd win 1 or more there, too. That's simply the truth.

Also, let's not forget that the most important thing a college coach can do is recruit talent. He gets credit for that, it's a huge part often job. Yet, while others have also recruited at an elite level, no one else has even sniffed Saban's success.

Stripling and butch have this one. Idk why there is so much pessimism here. Kongbo decommitted BC he wanted to look around. No one up to this point has shown him more than Tennessee.

And if you're wondering why I feel that way, its BC he hasn't been blown away coming out of these visits. That's why you're seeing these crystal ball predictions currently.

I think the parents are really selling the idea of closer to home. He could still choose UT, but he's going to have to ignore the parents wishes to do so.

Are people really questioning if we want this guy or not? He is the number 1 juco in the country for a reason and every one has went after him!!! We cut other players to get him in my opinion dude will be great at UT

His parents are more sold on this staff and program than most know. He may stay out west but he loves Tennessee. I just don't see that with the other programs. Strip has him sold on being at Tennessee a couple of years then going to the league.

He's won 4 NC titles in 8 years...
That's EXTREMELY efficient. And he just about does have the Tide playing for it every year. And what is his percentage of winning IN the championship game??

Also there is this thing called attrition. Hello Alvin Kamara!

They are always getting everybody's best shot.

So, I in fact think Saban is taking advantage of his recruiting.

We need Jonathan to be a Vol.Difference maker with Strip as his position coach. Make it happen, Butch.
