To me, Marquez Callaway is an athlete. I know Tennessee is recruiting him as a receiver but he's going to show up on campus without any real polish to his game at receiver. That's not necessarily a bad thing. He's a guy that to this point has just been playing ball. He's got great length, great athleticism, a knack for playmaking who will thrive as he learns the position.
At the Army Bowl, we asked Callaway to play cornerback. I loved him in that role all week. His ability to line up in a position in which he was inexperienced and go out and just instinctively make plays, run with receivers vertically and use his length were impressive. I think he has some of that to him. He'll just make plays when on the field.
As he's developed on the high school level, Callaway was always kind of a basketball player first that found the football field. Now that his singular focus will be football development, I think it is really exciting to see what he's going to be able to accomplish.
