The 6-6, 260 pound five star visited the Vols the last weekend of November and even though it's been many weeks since he was on Rocky Top, he said the visit is still fresh on his mind.
I wouldn't say it's a disadvantage (to Tennessee), Kongbo said. It's not like you forget. I definitely remember what all I liked about Tennessee.
Tuesday, he was reminded of it with his visit from the Vols.
It went really well, Kongbo said of the visit. Coach Shoop came and told me how I would fit in their defense. He said that he feels I'm the missing puzzle of their defense to make them dominant.
"Coach Shoop is really intelligent. He seemed genuine and honest. It was very important to get to spent some time with him. He's the play caller and he will be the one to put you in the position to make plays.
Kongbo was first recruited to Tennessee by running backs coach Robert Gillespie. It was Gillespie who went to see him last week when the dead period lifted and Kongbo said he talks to all the Tennessee coaches a lot including the Vols running back coach.
I talk to him a lot, Kongbo said. Tennessee was one of my first two offers and I really hit it off with coach G. I enjoy getting to talk to him.
