Holly is not the problem.

It's not the coaches fault. It is just the players she recruited. It's not her job to teach them fundamentals. They should come in winning championships.

You can't be serious. The players showed up w/o coach knowing anything about them??? :thud::thud:

EDIT: I think my sarcasm meter might have missed something.

Holly is WAY IN OVER HER HEAD!!!! They need to get rid of her. No Ifs, ans or buts about it. They need to go a find a hard nosed coach like pat that can teach fundamentals, cause they have none. It's pitiful how this program is rite now. It's almost embarrassing.

If something doesn't change, we will be in the same boat as the football program a few years back, recruiting will fall further off and it will take some time to get back to being Top 10 again.

PLEASE, whoever is in charge, WAKE THE **** UP and see what you are doing to a PRESTIGIOUS PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and whomever said coaches don't teach fundamentals, are you serious? Good lord, some people wake up on the stupid side of the bed.

Ever noticed why Bama football team, Duke bball, Uconn women's bball the Patriots, etc; never seem to have players that have horrible attitudes, are selfish, and won't buy in? Can you tell me something they all have in common?

Uhhhhhhhhh, their coaches don't ride harley's?

No, people who don't see Holly is the problem are the problem. Specifically a certain AD.....

THIS x 1,000,000! The real problem is we don't have an AD with the guts to admit he was wrong to give Holly an extension. An AD who doesn't understand the tradition of LV BB. One who knows elite eights don't cut it at the Univ of TN.

If money's the problem, we should take up a collection to buy out her contract...

Frankly, I think Hart has become a whipping boy all too often, without deserving to be so. It's not his fault that Summitt developed her condition, and what was he to do with Holly being the coach in waiting? He has given her a fair shot.

Not Hart's fault--in fact , he has taken far more abuse in the athletic program than he deserves.

What about his handling of the LV's name and logo?

What about his handling of the Jennings/Moshak stuff?

What about the handling of Martin, then going after Chris White, not getting him over a 6th year and hiring Tyndall with a 6 year contract and firing him after 1 season and assistants leaving before they coached the first game?

What about LV's BB "having locker rooms befitting of a program of that stature" and promising upgrades, while not, at least to my knowledge upgrading them?

He's done some good things and he has tough choices to make but he's made plenty of mistakes too and I'm not sure he understands what the LV's mean to so many of us.

I sometimes wonder if Hart is quietly enjoying all of the frustration. It seems clear he wanted to fold the "Lady Vols" name and identity under the Vols banner -- the whole brouhaha about the name and the logo probably irritated the hell out of him, and maybe, just maybe, he quietly thinks "alright, I'm going to give all of you annoying people _exactly_ what you asked for and leave it alone even if it runs off the rails." There's no proof obviously, but I sometimes wonder.

Could be, lot's of unnecessary animosity built up, but for him I think it's all about FB, everything else is in the back seat and maybe that's how it has to be...I'm as frustrated as anyone, just think we should let the season play out and support the players and coaches we have...that's all.

I think that's what I mean. For him, they can win or lose and it won't matter much to him. If they win it's a nice plus, but why mess with it after getting so much flak from everyone? He won't be fired if the Lady Vols decline back into the pack for good. So unless he has a real good reason, he's just going to stand back and say "hey, I let you do what you wanted here" about it all.

I agree about supporting them. I don't think we're as big an influence on things as we want to think we are, but I doubt any recruits log in to these sorts of forums and think "gosh, I should go to Tennessee!" Perception is reality. Wins and losses are reality too, but perception plays a role too.

I think when coaches and players start addressing the fans we've (as fans) gone too far, after all it's not professional sports. They are still here to go to college, get a degree, become productive people aside from their sport, enjoy the college experience.

For instance, when DeShields was asked if going to the committee meeting affected her game, while nobody asked her about the meeting or her thoughts on what was voted on, that's what is sad in my opinion.

I agree completely! The reality is that we're all mad Pat suffered a tragic health issue and we hate the fact Connecticut lapped us in the wake of that tragedy, and now that we don't see a way to keep up with our former rival we're just angry at everything. So we bash Holly or the coaches or whatever, because it's the only thing we have left to focus our anger on. Which, given that Warlick's been there for thirty years, I'm pretty amused when anyone here thinks they care more about these losses than Holly does. I doubt she's getting much sleep right now. She's Pat's friend and she got asked to do something damn near impossible. Doesn't mean I don't think the concerns have some legitimacy, and it doesn't mean that I don't think we should keep evaluating the performance of the program, and it certainly doesn't mean that anyone should be accepting of UT sliding into mediocrity. But damn, we are turning into a vicious bunch.

Yeah, always wanting to fire the coach isn't the answer. You'd think after all we've been through in multiple sports there would be a longer leash, especially for a coach that's won around 80% in her first 3 years...just where we're at I guess.

Have a good night!

GBO!!!

She is a lousy head coach
Poor game management is what I saw last night. Even with the team being in reach at the half, I knew Holly would not make any adjustments at the half and Muffet would being making the necessary adjustments needed. Why did Holly wait so late to play "hair on fire" basketball! Simply put, Holly has no game management skills.

While I agree with the responders, the OP has a point we have landed top players who haven't turned out to be top players I.E Russell

Could Holly be better? Yes
But the players are a HUGE problem (base talent not just coaching)

Russell played like a beast over the summer when she was playing for Geno. But, when she gets back to Holly she plays weak.

Turnovers, missed shots, selfishness, and bad attitudes seem to be the underlying problems. This team is not very good, no matter who is the head coach.

Warlick has not proven she has the guts do anything resulting from poor play except to keep watching from the sidelines. Remember back when Pat Summit threw the team out of their dressing room for poor play. Against ND we had 20 or 21 turnovers...cut that to 10 and cut out the 3-point crap and some better shot selection and even then we could have won the game. When is Warlick going to stop the turnovers? Cooper did nothing last night except occupy space for the entire game...no points and some turnovers...bench her now. As bad as this team appears to be, Summit not only would have thrown them out of the dressing room, but not have permitted them to wear orange uniforms. Fire Warlick now.:clapping:

If no coach can correct those problem , why have a coach?

What role do you think the coach plays?

There is more to coaching than walking back and forth, shouting and making substitutions during the game, then blaming the players for loosing the game

It's funny..."we have the talent" stuff.

Diamond Deshields has a pass thrown directly at her on a ND inbounds pass from mid court. She intercepts it, drives down the floor, it gets stolen and she compounds it by taking a silly foul that only a sixth grader thinks is okay

This was the low point in the game for me. I fear with DD you take the bad with the good - I'm just not sure if the good we are seeing is outweighing the bad (for a player with her expectations coming in).

People talk about how much better she would be with Geno coaching - I don't think she would have played another minute of the game for Geno after that silly play.

The body language continues to be bad, and the turnovers come at an alarming rate.

As she showed at the end of the game, she can do a lot just on her own - but that is also part of the problem.

This season is on BOTH the players and the coaches.

Double digit turnovers in the first 2 quarters plus shot clock violations equals a coaching change. They have no awareness and that is completely Warlicks fault.

Great point - but they also stay away from recruits that have attitude and selfishness problems in the first place.

She needs to get their attention like Pat used to do.
I say that she has lost the team, just like Dooley lost the team.
Teams will use this against us in recruiting and it is time for her to go.
If a large number of people start to show displeasure then it will at least get Hart's attention.
