He's not good enough that a 5 star can't start over him. He ain't Barnett.

The only guys that are locks to start for us even if we landed the #1 recruit in the country at their position is Barnett, JRM, Kirkland, and Sutton. Everyone else on the defense would be fighting for playing time.

Mid to end of the year Vereen was a very good for us. Jucos aren't an exact science.. If I had to bet on 2nd half Vereen vs and unknown Juco, I would go with Vereen

More to football than sacks for a defensive end. If you watch any actual film on Corey you'll see he controls his gaps very well so the running lanes are closed.

I'm always scared of the JUCO players who were not highly recruited, or did not produce out of high school. There is generally a reason for that.

Kongbo has limited football experience, so it is a huge risk vs upside.

JUCO players who were highly recruited and transferred, or had to JUCO for grades are the safer bet.

But yeah, I'd roll the dice on Kongbo

He's been struggling with injuries and limited playing time until this year. Saying he was a ghost is ignorant and asinine. Vereen is a talented player that's coming into his own in the SEC. Give me a break with your "he was a ghost" bullsh*t. Vereen is a very good player in this league, and it's not all about stats. Linemen have more than one job to do to allow the rest of the defense to do their job.

I'd take a proven solid player (and good kid to boot) over just about any recruit. Especially a juco, that'll be draft eligible after one season

Vereen is an animal. If everybody on the d line played with his intensity we would be a better team.

There are more talented players, sure. But sometimes football isn't all about just talent.

Cory Vereen as a senior will be the starter opposite Barnett. He's been a leader on this team since his freshman year. I had my doubts he would ever carve out a full role, but he won me over big time against Bama. He's probably one of the biggest reasons we were in that game at the end.

Played well for Mississippi State. Now is a starter for the Raiders.

JUCOs very often take a year to come into their own. Some never make it even after 2 years

Vereen is a very solid player. Not spectacular but solid. Kongo has more natural ability.
