Battle at Bristol Attendence

The field wont be anywhere near that large. That photo os misleading. There may be 155,000 people there but only about 65,000 or so will have a decent eyeball view of the on field action.

The longest non scoring pass in history .7 miles. 1st and goal from the .3 mile yard line.

Some geek convert that for me.

Go Vols!

I'm thinking somewhere between 80 and 100 thousand will actually attend.

I believe this will be a major flop and disappointment.

Totally agreed. No one would want to sit in Johnson and Sullivan Counties to watch a game in Washington County.

For those that are concerned about the view, or lack of, or the traffic, then by all means, stay home and catch the game on TV. I've been a race ticket holder at BMS for 25+ years and I've witnessed what Bruton Smith can do. I have every confidence that this game experience will be top notch.

He can do all the promotion he wants. People complain about upper deck seating at Neyland which is almost on top of the field.

I actually sit in the upper deck at Neyland, 2 rows from the top, and my seats are really good. I can see the entire action and plays as they unfold.

There's always someone who will complain about damn near everything. If my Vol's are playing and I'm in attendance, I'm a happy camper.

I agree with you. It is not bad at all. But some people complain about "being in the nose bleeds." The only bad seats in Neyland are down low.

I don't buy tickets unless I know where they are. Not interested in sitting a mile from the field

I've been to Bristol at least 15 times and sat all over the place. Not a bad seat in the house. Cars are a little bigger lol,but not much bigger than big Kmac. It's a half mile track. Nobody will be sitting a mile from the field. I think people will be surprised how well they can see. And the big screen they are putting up is going to be awesome.

And let me add, you haven't seen tailgating til you see this.

Agreed, we got to roam the stadium while waiting in line for local tix sales and I went to almost every section. I was very pleased with the view from just about everywhere. It looks a lot better in person than in pictures. Not much different than upper seating in Neyland IMO

Anyone who thinks this is going to be a flop clearly doesn't understand how this works or is just FOS. Tennessee brought 60,000 people 10 hours away to Tampa to watch a random game against Northwestern...not exactly a must see event...and yet you think that we won't bring AT LEAST 100,000 an hour and a half to Bristol? That's not even counting the VT fans who are fairly rabid fans themselves. Im sorry, but that's just ****ing dumb.

I don't wanna be in Waltrip Terrace if UT scores. Set up there for my 2nd Bristol race and the stands swayed like crazy when the flyover took place. Most scared I've been at a sporting event lol.

Never been to Bristol. It blows my mind that people ***** and moan about somewhere they've never been. If you don't want to be at the biggest outdoor party since Woodstock, stay home and watch it on tv. Just quit *****ing.

With the possibility of GameDay attending.

Scrolling through some of the top 20 schedules, the only other decent match-ups on Sept 10 are Arkansas at TCU and Virginia at Oregon and Kentucky at Florida... at least Power 5 teams are playing each other in those three games. Most everyone else is playing cupcakes that day. I can't imagine Game Day being anywhere other than Bristol. But we'll have to see.

So you are suggesting they have already sold upwards of 170 thousand tickets?

If so, that's just an irresponsible claim.

They may, eventually, call it as sell out. But, the majority of those tickets are or will be purchased by 3rd party sources and moving closer to the game ticket prices will be outrageous. I'm sticking to my prediction of between 80-100k actually attending.
Maybe 100k similar to Neyland. If it gets upwards of 120k or more then it will be from the Viginia Tech side and that will SHOCK me......

Many years ago there was a man who shut down the US Patent office, because he believed that there was nothing left to invent, I believe you sir must be related to this man. You neither have the foresight or the intelligence to conceive the magnitude of this event. This has been a project in the works since I was but a wee lad, folks will travel from near and far, to see this event.

They have built it, and we will come. GBO VFL!!!

I agree. And Tennessee will most definitely have more fans than Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech has great fans, but it'll almost be like a home game for Tennesses, as I expect over 100,000 there will be in orange.
