Battle at Bristol Attendence

So you believe that between 50,000-70,000 people will not use the tickets that they have already purchased?

So you are suggesting they have already sold upwards of 170 thousand tickets?

If so, that's just an irresponsible claim.

They may, eventually, call it as sell out. But, the majority of those tickets are or will be purchased by 3rd party sources and moving closer to the game ticket prices will be outrageous. I'm sticking to my prediction of between 80-100k actually attending. Maybe 100k similar to Neyland. If it gets upwards of 120k or more then it will be from the Viginia Tech side and that will SHOCK me......

the field will be no where close to that size. The end zone seats will be terrible.

Here They have the footprint of the field sprayed on infield.

There will be big jumbo screens in the middle and I suspect most will watch those to see the action. Attendance is all about being part of what will more than likely be a one time event.

Thankfully I know back roads to get back home to NC. I used to camp at Shadracks for the race.

Good thing my dad lives just off Bristol Caverns Highway...about 5 miles from the track.

We were just kidding a couple of weeks about how long that 5 mile trip is going to take us that day :)

Exactly! I think it's more so about being at something that may never occur again.

I live in Bristol and own a campground right across the street from the Speedway. They are able to sit 165000 in the stands but are also looking at the possability of adding temporary seating on the front and back straitaways and will be putting temporary seating in the endzones. They are calling these seats the battlefield and they are $400 a pop. The addition of those will take it to around 190,000. Should know in a couple of weeks if they have enough interest to do this so as of now they have sold around 150,000.
I also live in Bristol but not in the proximity to the race track as you but I have not heard anything about tickets being that high. As a matter of fact I heard that the 'Battlefield " seats were going to be the cheaper but I'm not certain. If they charge that price from the outset may be hard to sell.

I heard the same thing, putting bleacher seats on the track and will be about 400 a pop. I would pay 400 to sit that close and would prob sell the tickets I have right now. Call me crazy, I wouldn't disagree

We're pulling the camper and don't even have tickets. I reserved our campsite last spring (Hicks White Top). We just want to be there. Worst case, we'll pull out the tailgater, and watch it outside of the camper and grill. Can't wait.

Yeah, this is what most people who have never seen a race at Bristol don't understand. Campers will start rolling in on Sunday and it will be an all week event. Keep in mind , all the season ticket holders had first dibs on tickets. Most will not miss this chance for a huge party.

When they stop printing tickets that's when we will know the max amount will be. I would assume they would have SRO available at ticket windows the day of the game to ensure walk ups will be able to attend and enjoy the record setting event.

Go Vols!

Thing is with this game and the hype behind it, they'll be giving tickets away and busing people in before they leave the seats empty. I think they'll easily sell all the tickets they need to sell to fill the place up. But if they don't sell enough, they'll still figure out a way to get people in those seats. This game is about the hype of piling in people versus 'selling' every possible ticket.

What's with the smoke and mirrors approach to selling tickets anyways? Why can't they just sell tickets the old fashion way? I think they know that people won't buy end zone or horrible view seats so they're selling slots that way people won't have a choice to not buy them when they get crap seats.

The field wont be anywhere near that large. That photo os misleading. There may be 155,000 people there but only about 65,000 or so will have a decent eyeball view of the on field action.

Obviously, you've never been to Bristol to watch a race. There is not a bad seat in the house. Picture a fish bowl...

Dude look at the race going on in the picture. It's just a simulation. It's all good in the hood!
