I don't mind that kind of detente with Iran in this case. And I'm happy it turned out the way it did regardless if they confiscated the equipment or not. This situation had the potential to turn real ugly, real fast.

Yes Prof, I'm well aware of what happened then.

But for the next 25 years we were friendly and not quite the Great Satan we happened to be after the Revolution in 1979.

In reference to this latest incident, the history past 1979 certainly plays a huge factor here. As well as our own foreign policy past 2009.

Again, it just was odd they released them without hesitation. Not that I'm complaining though.

I thought towards the end of last year that maybe the use of unfounded conjecture, made up crap, unnamed sources, and all these just transparently idiotic ploys to try to bash Obama were worn out and that we'd move on to sanity.

I was wrong.

First, it was that they took the sailors in international waters because Obama is weak. Then, it was that we aren't going to get the sailors back because Obama is weak. Then, it was, well they were in Iranian waters and we got them back, but we should have screeched at them more. Then, it was that they showed the video because Obama is weak. Now, with no proof WHATSOEVER, its back to that they were in international waters, they were seized, and the ENTIRE US military apparatus, intelligence, plus all elected officials, are all lying to us because Obama is weak and wants to save the deal.

Jesus Christ, you people need help.

They could do whatever they wanted with the captured soldiers and there would be nothing but talk in response. Everyone on the planet knows that. Very bad time to be in the military.

The exact opposite is true. I've criticized both Obama and HRC over all sorts of things. What irks me is the propensity of the GOP to make every mistake or transgression some massive betrayal of the country, or crime against humanity.

In their obvious frustration and zeal to do anything to get back into power, the GOP has simply collectively lost its mind, and its sense of perspective.

I think people are missing the point that the Iranian RG and most countries are probably trained to take this kind of action. I'm certainly not an authority on it, but it seems this would be protocol to act in such a manner. For all they know, it could be a lure or trap? I just don't see the big deal in apprehending and investigating the events and people that led to armed enemy boats being in their waters. I'd hope we'd do the exact same...
