Disagree with the scouts. Using the amount of players as starters is inconsequential to your claim. Tennessee, regardless of recent wins, is a big time program that garners the attention from NFL scouts. Tomlin doesn't personally come to Tennessee if that's not the case. Being in the sec, you are on the east coast and national tv consistently. Id argue Tennessee players get more national exposure. So I disagree with your claim.

Either you don't read as many of my posts as you think you do or else you have me confused with someone else. I make quite a few "positive" posts and posts complimentary to Jones. One example is pretty easy. When a good portion of the "positive" fans were *****ing about the Debord hire... I argued that Jones had to hire the guy he felt fit into his staff the best which might not be the guy with the most glowing resume. So... I was defending Jones while a good bit of handwringing was going on here.

I have CONSTANTLY praised Jones and been "positive" about what I believe was a very good change in the way he approached game strategy following the OU and UF losses.

You can find a post I made before reading yours over in the football forum where I said that IMO Jones is self aware and trying to work on his weaknesses (contrary to Dooley). In a profession driven by HUGE egos... is there a higher compliment than that?

I have also said since early on that the one thing I LOVE about the guy is his focus on execution over sophistication. I'm not saying he doesn't have systems that can get sophisticated only that he demands it be done "right" before adding more complex stuff. That's one thing I HATED about Fulmer... the whole "throw it all at them and see what sticks" approach. If you knew me outside of this board then you would understand just how big of a compliment this is. IMO, this is why Fulmer struggled with less athletic Big 10 teams that executed well.... while Jones smokes them. Better athletes... just a physical... just as disciplined in execution.

Last thing on this- Darth called me out for being "rude" to a NU fan before the Bowl. In comparing the teams, I said that UT should beat them. I was VERY confident of Jones' team and his ability to get a big win.

The recruiting situation right now isn't "good". I have said only that it wasn't good right now and needed to be turned around. Can you point to the place where I said that the program and Jones were doomed if it didn't? Can you point to the place where I said Jones couldn't turn it around?

Tennessee continues to try and find more options along the defensive line as Jonathan Kongbo decommitted this past week. While Kongbo says the Vols are still heavily under consideration, there isn't a lot of hope that he will end up in Knoxville.

Nope, I'm no insider want to be. Its crazy how quick volnation is to forget two top five classes the past two years butch can recruit. Give him a chance is all I'm saying.

Sjt is a very good communicator. The problem is that most of the time he takes facts then melds them into an opinion based on his data. He then claims the opinion to be fact. Then he becomes a pit bull in his defense of that opinion and resorts to name calling etc... He'd be a great poster if he would just accept that some people will disagree with him and that it's no big deal.

In complete sincerity, if I am claiming opinion to be fact then I wish you would point it out to me. IMO, it is clear that when you state something as a conclusion based on an interpretation of facts... it is understood that you are presenting an opinion. If anything, I thought I was overusing the "IMO" and "IMHO".

As for namecalling, seldom if ever do I start that with someone or even respond to the first or second attacks.

My current feud with Darth started when he took it upon himself to attack me as I exchanged opinions with an NU fan. I think the name he used was "insufferable blowhard". Constructive, no? Anyway, I told him and the NU fan that I had watched several NU games, looked at the roster, and looked at the relative stats.... and thought that UT among other things should beat NU. They were "opinions" based in the facts... that were pretty much accurate as it turns out. Now... Darth is REALLY on the warpath.

It is 100% personal on his part. He said so. I'd rather just discuss the facts with him agree or not.

Honest people can disagree. But if you attack someone's opinion then fail to account for the relevant and known facts with your own conclusions... you deserve the horns.

Yeah, I can be a "pit bull". OTOH, I've been here a long time and can say honestly that I've publicly admitted I was wrong more times than most anyone else.

To be fair, do I dance alone? And before you blame me for those arguments... shouldn't you at least acknowledge that those who try to poison the well by claiming I "hate" Jones or am always negative and such are somewhat to blame for things becoming "uncivil"?

FWIW, I don't think UT's class is in jeopardy because they lost Kongbo. He's one guy and all other things being equal... I'd much rather have a HS signee than a JUCO.

The thing that concerns me more is that guys like Warrior haven't committed and that only 2 of the top 10 in TN are committed to UT. I think everyone a year ago would have agreed with the importance of locking down TN and legacy players.

In the past couple of years you would see guys de-committ only to see similar or better players pop right in to replace them. This time round... we haven't seen that so much.
