Hurd Stiff Arm from Outback Bowl

Could watch that all day!! Thanks for the post.

Also, I've been posting this stat on a few threads just so everyone grasps how dominant our rushing attack has been all year:

Team 119 averages 90 more YPG rushing than their opponents give up on average. I was blown away by that stat. Big props to a vastly improved OLine along with the ridiculous talent in Hurd, AK, and Dobbs.

If we improve in our "throw game" in the offseason and AK sticks around....we'll be scary good!!

Edit

i think AK dancing in the backfield and after catching punts may have hurt his evaluation. He didn't trust his speed and wanted to make every touch a highlight reel. Instead he made himself easy to catch, and he don't have Hurd's size, so easier to bring down. So I don't think he'll be leaving, unless he's got "friends" in his ear hyping him up just to go undrafted.

At one point this year, an announcer in one of our games suggested a targeting rule for RBs when they hit a defender. That was after watching Hurd absolutely run through one of the other team's DBs. I can't remember the game. He did it a few times this year. It looks like his stiff arm has the same aggression behind it.

Hurd is a MONSTER with ill intent on his mind. I can't remember a RB at Tennessee with his killer instinct. Which puts him in elite company. He's one of my favorite players...all time.

Georgia...Gary Daniellson. He thinks that when an offensive players lowers his head gear and impacts the defensive players, that the play should be blown dead at that point.

I completely support player safety, but that is a position that will put offensive players at a complete disadvantage and would open them up for more upper body injuries.

that isn't a stiff arm, that's a one handed take down. Hurd throws him down, stops to watch him hit the ground then takes off.

Too bad it didn't play long enough to see the NW player take a flop at the end of Jalens run lol. That was some good acting skills.

He got called out on it by the announcers. As a fan of the NBA, that was a bush league flop.

In fairness, he would have gotten trampled if he went low on Jalen.

Wow, at one point Rod Gilmore mentioned that was something Hurd needed to develop before taking the next step in his career

The guy at the end actually took a dive voluntarily to try and draw a flag. The announcers were even laughing at it. It was the second time in the game a Northwestern player took a dive. The first time was on a punt when a UT player literally ran under the punters leg never actually touching him. :)

That stiff-arm was exactly what he needed at that moment. He runs with aggression...NEVER quits and refuses to just "go down" when he's hit.
In addition, and frankly more importantly...Jalen Hurd is about as FINE a young man as I've seen in a long time. Coach Jones and all of us in the VolNation can be proud he's on our team.

That stiff arm was stupid. And no I'm not saying it was dumb for the older crowd.
As one of the 'older crowd', I would for you explain this. Or perhaps he shoulda got tackled? I think it was pretty awesome.

Clearly that should have been a penalty; ON NW!, for bad engineering! MOVEABLE FORCE blows up MOVEABLE OBJECT!

Can the officials call an unsportsmanlike penalty on such an obvious flop? Would prefer American football to stay as far away from the European football antics as possible.
