'16 AZ DE Jonathan Kongbo UT Signee 2/3/16

This year's class will not be top 5 in the SEC, much less the nation. Butch has shown his hand. He can't coach on the sideline. He can beat schools where he has much better talent but against SEC schools he is only average at best. If he falters in getting the SEC title next year, he will never get one at UT.

How long did it take Johnny Majors to win the SEC? Why this ultimatum on next year? Makes no sense.

You know the like button is used as an "agreeance" button very often. Doesn't mean the other posters like seeing this proposed scenario, it means they agree that scenario is likely to happen. Stop pulling the fan card BS; that's the most tiresome flame on here. Anyone who is more pessimistic than your crowd, is immediately labeled a troll or not a true fan. There's no measurement for fandom to say your's is stronger than mine so give it a rest.

Well said

Couldn't agree more! I think if all on VN would understand that 'Like' is synonymous with 'Agree' then we'd save Freak some server space and some time on cleanup duty due to all the crap that gets slung back-and-forth from people who don't understand that.

Evaluating talent is good if you can land the talent. Hardman, brown, warrior, and kongbo are huge players. I think it is realistic that we don't land these players because they talk all about other schools and barely us. I'm saying its a failure recruiting class because our biggest fish will be Jarrett which is kind of disapponting. Quarterback isn't even a position of need.

As I previously stated, I have followed recruiting for a long time. I don't get caught up too much in what recruits say. There are many of them that play the game and answer based on who is asking the questions.

UT football is on its way up- some of us will enjoy the ride.

I am in "agreeance" with your post. I like it too. By the way, can we petition Freak to change "Like" to "Agree" or would that cause a whole new set of problems?

Is this what we have come to? Discussing what the "like" button means?

I can't wait to see what the topics of conversation will be when the offseason actually gets here.

This IS referred to as the "dead period".

In fact, if we "bump" into a relevant topic during these two weeks it is possibly an NCAA violation.

You talk to these recruits on a regular basis? Or are you basing this information on an article that may ask close ended questions to said recruits? You must remember that these recruits are still fairly young men that may or may not be media savvy. Regardless, go to the Braves boards and worry about being in the cellar of the NL East again next year.

I wasn't talking about any other school? I was just saying if we miss on all and uga and bama get the others it would be a failure on our coaching staff. Wouldn't you agree? Look at reality. So your saying if we missed on all of them you wouldn't be upset at all? You surely realize how silly your unrealistic sunshine pumping is? People on here have a very very hard time with reality and then get extremely butthurt when something doesn't go our way. I don't get my hopes up as much because being butthurt is silly. I guarantee that if we don't get any of the 4, the fans that are being sunshine pumpers will have a thread started about how butch sucked this year in recruiting. I've seen it happen over and over again. Better to be realistic and not get your feelings hurt when something bad does happen, then being unrealistic and bashing coaches, players, and VN posters when something bad happens.

You, my friend have a very twisted definition if failure. Almost, dare I say, childlike in its simplicity. My feelings won't be hurt, so don't worry about me, okay sport?

If I had to be as fretful as you about my team, I think I'd find another sport to watch. I'm willing to see what happens and decide how I feel about it then. The 4 players might all end up injured or in drug rehab or may not pan out as expected. I think CBJ will put the best athletes he can get onto the field and I don't feel the need to characterize his efforts as an across the board failure to make myself feel important. Sad that you do. Maybe you should find a hobby.

Sunshine pumpers... Geez, at least be original.

Agree x1000

How sweet. Your 'cyber' bodyguard is back. By the way there is no reality in a guess. So kill it with the 'I'm being realistic' nonsense. A realist looks at facts only.

Kongbo is currently committed to the Vols- Fact
Derrick Brown's last visit is with the Vols- Fact
Nigel Warrior's last visit is with the Vols- Fact

That's 3 of the recruits you keep pounding into the pavement swearing up and down they are going elsewhere. Please provide me with factual information you base your 'realistic' opinion on.

Your last sentence says all we need to know. It doesn't matter one bit who is currently on our QB depth chart. If you can sign a guy who has elite potential at QB...

If Guarantano turns into a Heisman caliber QB he will take this 15-20th ranked class and turn it into a national title run.

Completely different era of football, recruiting, and media. Plus, Majors was a UT hero, had won a NC at Pitt no less, and had coached a Heisman winner.

If Jones doesn't compete for championships SOON then recruiting will get much more difficult. Kids want to play for championships and get their best shot at the NFL.

It's nice to get in the 5* players but i would really like the coaching staff to get to a point where they can coach a 2 or 3* up to a stud. The only one i can think that wasnt a highly rated player that plays significant minutes is chance hall. Are there any other low rated players out of high school that have turned into great players on the team now?

Sutton, Josh Smith, Wiesman, Kerbyson.

Just off the top of my head.

I dont know if im putting kerbyson in the stud category but i just looked up vereen and he was only a 3*

I'd say Kerbyson is worthy of it as he got the SEC lineman of the week twice this year, jmo though.

Vereen has played well lately as well.
