Remember those videos of Osama Bin Laden dressed in US Army surplus that we used to have to sit through following 9/11 (before his dead rotting body was dumped in the ocean)? Those came to us courtesy of Al Jazeera. As did the video of Nicholas Berg being beheaded by Zarqawi in 2004. They have also defended a muslim fugitive who killed his daughters in Arizona as "honor killings" because they had become westernized. There is also a lengthy 9/11 'truther' video on youtube which they produced...

I have no idea of the legitimacy of these claims but the source of this cannot be ignored in this case.

even if true I don't see where he broke any rules. Was not active on any teams roster during his treatment. This is just sensationalism.

VN stages of denial:

1. Discredit article
2. Discredit OP
3. "Peyton had no choice"

But, I still don't think it's that big a deal.

You discredited yourself by calling Al Jazeera "a solid source". Not as a Vol fan but as an American, that is an offensive claim.

Damn mooslims trying to bring down America by taking down our star athletes.

Those of you bashing Al Jazeera have 0 clue. Better news source then FOX, MSN, or CNN. I prefer BBC America though.

I think Butchna took HGH while playing for the Dallas Cowboys in 1937.

See how that works.

Those 37 Cowboys quick kicked like the dickens! Needed something a little extra after I pinned George Halas and his Decatur Staleys back 40 times. HGH was Morty Hebowitz's take on bathtub gin from his Prohibition days...Hooch Gonna Hooch...Heaven to your hammies.

Our jimmies got rustled (boy howdy) when those interlopers in Highland Park started playing our games in 1960.

The guy with the "inside info" driving this story released a video recanting the accusations. He then took down the video.

Siap

I just saw the video. It was completely bizarre. Dude backtracked at world record speed.

Please keep the politics out of the football forum. Al Jazeera is recognized the same as CNN, Reuters, BBC and other international news outlets.

I don't enjoy any of it. In fact, the first thing I said was that this didn't even register with me.

It's a message board where somebody shared something from a reputable news source. Discuss it or ignore it. I don't care.

Not reputable. Just because they produce news doesn't make them one. I have and always will have nothing but disdain for the garbage they spew out. See some of the above post.

Since the commencement of the War on Terror and the subsequent media focus on al-Qaeda and bin Laden, Al-Jazeera has become a household name. The emergence of this channel is seen as a breath of fresh air by many, in that it provides much needed balance to the public debate and offers alternative views in a world dominated by western media discourse.

The fact that the channel is owned and tightly controlled by the undemocratic and authoritarian Qatari royal family, that jails independent journalists who criticise the regime at home, seems to have gone unnoticed and ignored by many. But since the start of the Arab Spring, that is slowly starting to change.

According to an article that appeared in the German magazine Der Spiegel, many leading journalists and TV anchors have started to leave the channel in recent months. According to one of those that has recently left, the German based Aktham Sulimen, “Before the beginning of the Arab Spring, we were a voice for change...a platform for critics and political activists throughout the region. Now, Al-Jazeera has become a propaganda broadcaster.”

According to another Beirut based correspondent, “Al-Jazeera takes a clear position in every country from which it reports – not based on journalistic priorities, but rather on the interests of the Foreign Ministry of Qatar......In order to maintain my integrity as a reporter, I had to quit."

Not the place for this as I said I have no idea of the legitimacy of these claims... but Al Jazeera has most certainly produced a 9/11 'truther' video and served as a conduit for Osama Bin Laden's propaganda videos and aired the Berg beheading at the hands of Zarqawi and defended Muslim 'honor killings' and the San Bernardino and Paris attacks.

It may be a better source for you but some people find anti-American and pro-Islamic jihadist propaganda to be offensive.

The competitive advantage part. IF he were taking them and playing, how do you absolutely judge they didn't give home a competitive advantage? Hopefully this is all BS, but initially it doesn't look great.

Because he was a shell of his former self. If it even made him equal to his presurgery self? Nah...there was no ADVANTAGE.

Agree, but it seems an extremely odd source for this type of story. I mean, they don't have an AlJazeeraSports1 station on my channel lineup.
