'16 KS DT Alexis Johnson (UT commit 6/16/15)

Nobody is saying the offense wasnt stalling or there weren't questionable decisions, just that Curt wouldve made the difference in a play or two and we would've overcame all of that. It isn't one or the other. You can go ahead and question Butch. Admitting that Curt wouldve made the difference in a couple of games doesn't negate your argument.

This.

That's bullcrap chavis..I've been here long enough to remember you before you became so negative. You used to be fair. You've changed. You were a great poster.

I wasn't here when he was a 'great poster' but I'll take your word for it. He was so insufferably, relentlessly negative during the tough stretch I put him on ignore.

There were several who were terrible but he was the worst. Smug and negative simultaneously.

When your offense gives you 27 pts and 250 rushing yds against a defense as good as Florida, there is no argument that it was in any way anyone else's fault than the D or coaches. I'm gona roll with our only glaring weak spots early on at LB and DB. However Dobbs did fumble and set them up for 7, but FL gets atleast one of those per game so it was par. The good news is the offense did have a good game against an awesome D on the road, and the defense is at the very least getting more experience and talent. My opinion is our D had a couple holes that weren't ready yet, no ones fault.

I've been around since 08-09. When I joined Chavis really was a good and fair poster. The Dooley years changed him. It is much easier to criticize and doubt, than to believe and encourage.

If you don't think constant 3 and outs had anything to do with the defense than you need to go back and watch that game

If I recall, we were moving the ball into OU territory and Hurd fumbled on first down, which caused a big loss on first down. We had to punt. It was more than just 3 and outs. There were execution issues, and everything just went wrong.

Wait, who said anything about Maggitt being the reason we lost? I'm not placing the blame on anyone. We lost for a number of reasons, but with Maggitt in there, we likely win UF and/or OU. I'm sure both of those teams had players out that they could say the same about. I was just commenting on how close the game was and how much of an impact not having Maggitt had. Settle down.

I just read on Twitter that Butch cursed at him, punched him in the face, and now AJ is planning to transfer. At least he didn't flip his commitment!

I agree to a point Wick. Ellis dropping a td didn't help. I'm sure that is the coaches fault too.

Well - actually - now that you mention it. lol. It might have been wiser to call a pass to the #1 TE to increase the odds of catching it. Ellis is not all that sporty at catching passes out in a pattern. He does OK on curls and stops, but that's about it for his pass catching skills. Whereas Wolf rarely drops a pass.

That and other examples led to my comments about the staff appearing to treat games as they did practices the first half of the season and in past seasons. The losses and criticism received may have sharpened their skill set a bit.

Either way, we had more than enough on the field to win.

Why does it even have to be on us. Maybe we did have enough to win, maybe we didn't.

What if, shocker, a Heisman hopeful QB and a roided-up QB made even better plays to will their team to victory.

Explosive off the ground and good lateral quickness and pursuit. Looks svelte for 295 lbs. Plays like he is 260-270.

Not sure strength wise as he is going against JUCO OL. Plays very upright. Seems like he gets pushed around a bit and uses his quickness to recover and get back in the play.

Good thing he is an EE to get some strength and improve his technique.

I'm not so sure that it was their "plan" to have Ellis in for their pass instead of Wolf so much as it was late in the game and they just so happened to be giving Wolf a breather at that point.

Better coaching would have planned for a breather at a more opportune time.

Being a Juco EE is very important. Jmo, the 2 main reasons would be S/C and learning how to practice. The culture between Juco and D-1 is a huge difference.

I Like Owen but AJ will be a nice upgrade

SIAP-

"I think Alexis Johnson is a big-bodied defensive lineman who's quick, he's sudden, he's explosive. He can bend. On film he looks like he can play the three-technique. He can play the nose. You can move him around to different spots. He's a guy that can not only be good in the run but also in the pass rush, which is critical for us. I'm excited about that," Jancek said of his two newcomers.

Siap, I just came in on the last few posts. I swear, it seems like every time we throw to the tight end in critical situations Ellis is in there, and he drops it half the time. And every time he does, it reminds me of one of the preseason practice vids where he dropped almost every single shot from the jugs machine. Ha ha. Hard to gripe too much since he's gone from a walk-on to a key backup. But drives me nuts since Wolf catches even the ones where Dobbs turns him completely around.
