When we get the hurt players back our team will look much different in a good way. Some very talented players kept out of action this year due to injury. If we can have a healthy spring and bring most people back, sky is the limit for '16.

Couple notes:

I do not see Sheriron transferring and many in the program believe he will be a serious talent for us. He's the fastest QB on roster and has serious arm strength. This will be an interesting battle for backup qb this offseason.

Darrell Taylor is someone I've been hearing will be a player next year as a LB with opportunities to play some downs as a rush end

D Miller and Micah are progressing very nicely at CB and have gained considerable muscle weight.

We have two very talented RB's behind Hurd. Both still need time in weight room but from a depth perspective, the talent drop off will be minimal, especially when CFA is enrolled and gets in the weight room.

Griffin is coming along at safety and we should have two ball hawking safeties, which we haven't had in awhile, considering our current safeties are better run stoppers than coverage guys (although they have improved).

This team is improving at a rate that started out slow and at times felt stagnant but has now gotten to the point of rapid improvement. Butch has finally created an atmosphere and environment that breeds success. Now when new players come into the system, the acclimation process is much smoother and therefore these guys are more quickly ready to contribute on the field whereas in years past, butch had the difficult task of also acclimating the Dooley players to this system. It's only going to get better from here on out. 2016 was always the year that was circled on the trajectory map for true success, so enjoy it, because it will be the beginning of a long stretch of success for Tennessee football.

Bump...in the wake of last night, I wanted everyone to read these thoughts again from someone who sees what's happening inside the program. Tennessee football is in very good hands. Either hop on the train and join us, or watch us as we run you over and go by.

Do you really not think that Sheriron Jones would have a shot at beating out Harris in 2016? Not even for the first 6 games? I would imagine that McElwain would open that competition wide open starting in the spring.
Harris or Jones probably wouldn't beat out Del Rio. None would beat out Grier. The guy didn't even visit the kid. Tells me all I want to know. Hope he wins some games for you guys.

Yawn, ahh good morning. Did anyone decommit while I was sleeping? Is Butch keeping that raise? The nerve. The worst news for me is if my efforts pay off, it's looking like a September birthday party around here to go with the October one we already have. Ugh I know better. Why am I doing it. It's so much fun. Women don't get it.

Surprising. A ridiculous comment from the HG.

What's ridiculous about it? This will be yr 3 with Del Rio in Mac's system. Forget the stars. Mac has a certain type of QB that success in his system. McElroy and McCarron weren't the highest rated QBs at Bama. They both beat out 5* to become QB1 at Bama.

39% of the Rivals top 100 are uncommitted. There is gonna be some crazy movement in the rankings before its all said and done.

I think he knows he screwed up but this is the narrative he allows to circulate. He succeeded this year so if he pisses in the blue and orange Koolaid you guys got your pimp cups a waiting.

Would love to know what % that was 5 and then 10 years ago.

My guess would be:
5years ago 40% were committed
10years ago only 20% were committed

Intersting to think about how different recruiting is especially considering the timeline of things

Are the realists allowed in here, yet? Hopefully, the hangover will not last too long. Group think seems to be the required admission price.

No - the sky is not falling. We want guys that want to be Vols. If they don't - good luck to them elsewhere. Never believed Johnson would stick anyway with what is ahead of him. The recruiting losses obviously appear to be due to coaching movement as well as depth chart related. Not good to lose some of them, ridiculous to spin it any other way, but it is good that it is now happening because that is natural in the better programs. Losing Elder hurt recruiting. I have no issue with moving Sheridan in as QB coach. The QB's are improving and he is young and easy for them to identify with personally. If Z is soon to be out the door, which would tend to increase the decommits we are seeing, IMO Butch needs to replace with a rising young coach that is a strong recruiter. Preferably one with hair. It would be even better if this person could be outside of Butch's usual circle so that different methods could be considered that might lead to better results.

To get over the excessive turnover in recruiting classes requires winning championships. Guys will stick and wait their turn where they can win rings and get to the NFL the best. Until then, this is what we will see frequently. Make it happen, Butch.

Thank you for bumping that. I have missed a lot of time on here and enlight of all the bad news lately, it's a nice refreshing read.

You're combining different scenarios. Mac didn't know Grier would juice or THbwould regress. He also believed Driskel was coming back for his final yr so it wasn't a need to sign a kid that wouldn't play until 2017. SJ also isn't a better prospect for Mac system than Franks or Allen.

Mac is doing just fine without Mr. Jones.

He had to have seen film of Driskell. If he was a future consideration, his botching of the SJ recruitment DOES pale in relevance. If he ASSUMED that he'd land Franks in the NEXT recruiting class?...even further so. :loco: Listen, however you want to minimize Sheriron, your coach essentially traded a talented four star commit for Vandy's backup WR. You were already in a tight situation and your coach played Russian roulette with the most important position on any team. It wasn't sound judgement and if Butch had put us in the same situation, you would have happily contributed to the HUNDREDS of copycat threads bashing him for it...just sayin. :hi:
