Agree. Their power Running game worries me after what Vandy did against us

We aren't nearly as good on defense when we aren't in the nickel and we won't be playing that very much if they run like Vandy did on us

2016 is where this entire program is pointing.

If you look at the top 6 teams of this season:

Only 2 of the 6 did the bowl game set the tone for their next season in a positive way.


Clemson embarrassed OU


Bama lost in what many thought was a game that tested their manhood

Mich state won an exciting game.

Iowa was destroyed embarrassingly

OHS sat around all year basking in their glory and played most of the season at a much lesser level than last year

So at best 2 of the 6 used their bowl game to propel their seasons.

OU, Bama, and iowa used their losses for motivation.


In no shape form or fashion is this game a must win. That's plain comical

I don't believe bowl games are a springboard to a successful next season.

I believe we need the 9th win for different reasons.

When a team is favored by 9-10 pts and they lose the game, they f----d up. It would be a bad loss IMO.

Good talk guys

Usually I get accused for being negative but this time nothing is keeping me from thinking next year we are a legit top 10 team

I think we win the bowl game but if not that positive outlook won't change

The difference between all those other teams and Tennessee is the stability and direction of the programs. All of those other coaches have resumes that speak for themselves, and have established their positions at each respective school.

Butch and Tennessee have been able to recruit based on the promises of playing time, and the potential of the program. If he doesn't show steady improvement and signs of progress it hampers his recruiting moreso than other established coaches.

A lose isnt the end of the world, but it definitely effects our recruiting and the long term plan more than most other teams

Also, Darrin Kirkland made SEC All-Freshman team.

This is our main driver and with early playing time becoming increasingly scarce to offer progress matters even more.
