Playoff this year

Actually it isn't a playoff spot it is the Orange and the Cotton for the first round.

The Peach bowl is now part of the New Years six and not a every year SEC destination anymore.

The two reason the Peach had an SEC team in it last year was that A.) The Sugar was part of the playoff and B.) The SEC got two additional teams to our Playoff representative in the New Years 6 bowls in Miss St in the Orange and Ole Miss in the Peach.

This won't happen this year because after Bama boat races UF there won't be any other SEC teams in the CFC's top 15 or whatever the cutoff is to make the NY6.

If you are in the top 8 you are automatically in.

Now if Florida somehow upsets Bama then they will get the auto bid to the Sugar and Bama will likely get selected for the second playoff spot.

I believe at that point that would open us back up for the Citrus as Ole Miss would fall out and have a 9-3 record opening the door for the Citrus to take a 9-3 team (that is if Ole Miss were not also selected for a NY6 bowl which they could be as well depending on where the CFPC ranks them).

If you can't tell this process is VERY different than it used to be.

If UT can't be considered for citrus bowl, why were they watching us play Vandy?

Because Florida had not lost to FSU yet so we were in play still.

IF UF had beat FSU there was an outside shot both Florida and Ole Miss/Miss St winner would have been selected for New Years 6 bowls. (most likely Sugar and Peach)

If that would have happened then the Citrus bowl would have been able to take someone with only 8 wins as the best remaining SEC record would have been 9-3.

Does that make sense?

I asked the same thing yesterday but it's been said the rep that was there is a tenn grad and they likely were there just in case LSU lost and we jumped them in the pecking order.

Also lsu was a very possible 4 game loss team as well

Makes sense :hi:

Why would LSU losing have anything to do with our pecking order? They have 3 SEC losses just like us. I bet we get a better bowl than LSU.

Citrus would have had to still taken UF even if LSU lost and fell to 8-4.

It all hinged on UF beating FSU.

I'm OK dropping to Outback if UF doesn't get in the NY6 personally.

I agree but had florida won then it likely would have been lsu or tenn for the citrus

That make sense?

Sugar and Citrus reps were in Gainesville. Almost no chance UF ends up in NO but they sent representative anyway.

If UF wins Saturday they'll be in NO.

They also could have got to the Sugar bowl if they beat FSU and lost to Bama.

Sadly you'll get beat by 40 points and probably lose by 20 to Michigan to finish the year with 3 straight beat downs exposing McElwain for the fraud that he is and not allow you to have a great recruiting finish.

Vols win by 3 TD's plus in September!

Nah, we are every bit as banged up as you, yet playing a lot better.

I will agree on playing better. We're down Alex McAllister, Bullard, Morrision, 3 starting OL, a kicker, a idiot WR and Grier.. I feel UF has the edge there. Hell, Harris alone may give us the edge. He's beyond awful.

Well that part is obvious but I argue the Citrus would have always taken us over LSU even with their win over A&M.

The fact is we aren't even an option anymore (unless UF beats Bama) because of UF's loss to FSU. That was the game that mattered significantly for our Citrus chances.

I am with you except I am not sure we would clearly be the choice over LSU. It would be close IMO

UF was only suppose to win 6 or 7 according to VN and the media. Nothing can take away from what they accomplished this yr. Even losing 3 straight.

Honestly, gut feeling says Citrus for UF vs. Michigan. Tennessee vs northwestern in outback.

Very likely scenario.

The SEC will be deciding between UGA, LSU and Tennessee for the Outback bowl.

I think we are playing the best and probably would sell the most tickets.

They may give it to UGA just as a tip of the cap to Richt though.

That could unfortunately drop us all the way to the MCB as LSU won't go there again and they'd likely go to the Belk.

But LSU could possibly get the Gator or the Texas bowl too.

There is really no telling with the SEC will work out.
