When did I say it was a "given"? Just not worth the consternation and handwringing and virtual guarantees ON HERE that we would NEED our backup. Oh he got dinged? I fell into a pool once and got wet! :)

Well its the first season in a while where we haven't needed our backup. So I would say it was a reasonable thing to think about.

Sorry. I'll stop looking for positives from this season and just complain about Dobbs not being able to throw. Oh wait. No I won't.

I thought Kamara was only a RS Sophomore and you had to be at least a Junior to enter the draft. However, I do think Kamara could try and be an undrafted free agent. Is that correct?

I really hope both Sutton and Maybin stay. Our D would be so nasty with both of them back.

Redshirt sophomore= true junior. 3 years out of graduating high school class. :hi:

You're misinterpreting anything I posted but I don't care enough to help you work through it. Not a Dobbs basher or Dormady worshipper...they're down the hall.

I didn't do the best job of clarifying this. But when someone listed the 5 players (Kendrick, North, JRM, Sutton, and Kamara), he replied and said 3 of them were on there, and 2 others he heard about were not. He earlier stated that there was a lot of potential out of the guys he heard. Which leads me to believe that the 2 that were not named might be a tough loss.

Vol74 may be right again about Hurd, unfortunately.

I don't think Reeves Maybin should leave unless he's a 1st or 2nd round pick. I think he needs another year, but there could be other circumstances for him that will make him leave.

I'm definitely not in a rush to write off young players. I love almost all of our young players. Their talent jumps off the screen at you.

I don't see that talent with Malone. I don't see the flashes. He just seems like an average talent who gets pushed around in big boy football. Even if he gets tougher, I don't see all the measurables people always refer to with him. He's 6'3. That's about it. He's not dangerous with the ball in his hands, isn't particularly quick or hard to stay in front of, and isn't some physical freak who you need to get the ball to. He's an average SEC level type of talent. There are simply other young skill position players on our roster who are a lot more exciting in my opinion. Malone gets all the attention (to his detriment) due to his recruiting profile.

You're probably right that the expectations built by his recruiting profile were probably out of whack. I'm with you there.

I just think players improve and change at their own pace. You didn't see flashes. That's fine. I did. And his potential excites me. He isn't savvy enough right now as a WR to utilize all of his tools. But he has tools.

I don't know if he'll ever get there and be the number 1 receiver a lot of us thought he could be. But he could become a really solid number 2 possession receiver and help us move the chains. He's had some valuable experience. He's fast. He's big. He's going to difficult to cover once he's a seasoned veteran.

I honestly feel if PWilly and especially North can get healthy next year, and we don't continue to rotate 37 receivers each game, Malone won't have many opportunities next year. He's just not productive and wildly inconsistent at best. I haven't seen him turn any corner or grow at all like some here claim to. He's just had more targets due to injuries and dismissals to other players. He still drops a lot of easy passes, doesn't fight for the ball at all, and gets pushed around by physical DBs. Catching one deep ball against maybe the worst defense we played all year doesn't mean he has finally turned some corner. He's a soft player, and that just doesn't work in this conference.

Was he soft in the Georgia, Bama, or Kentucky games? The Bama game he made very tough catches. Made a big one to set up the go ahead score. I understand you have an agenda but the dude played much better the second half of the season starting with UGA.

I don't know how many of you read the Vols 247 site, but JAV that posts on there usually is dead on with everything he posts and he said he is 95% sure Sutton returns and 99% sure JRM returns.

1) He had two flippin' catches for 40 yards. People act like he went for a buck fifty in that game. 2) That is 1 game of 12. Inconsistent, at best.

If anything I'd say the Georgia game was his best game of the year.

The Bama game he made a grab basically fighting guys off from a game ending interception. He battled tooth and nails.

2) We run the ball a whole lot. So him being a feature WR like you expect won't be happening. But the kid definitely took a step. You can stop hating. Smh lol

I think if he trimmed about 10 lbs he could be a top 2-3 SS in the draft this year. That would probably land him around round 3-4 though. I think he's definitely staying

You don't tend to say what you really mean. You hide it underneath layers of quips and jokes. So forgive me if I misread.

I read this board a lot. I know you're not an extremist either way. Neither am I.

I'm trying to understand your point though.

Dormady could have opened up the offense a ton through the air. He's a better backup option than Peterman. Got it. Agreed on both points. I still think he may have costed us a game or two if we really had to play him in extended time.

Dobbs avoids injury more than other QB's.

What am I missing?

Anyone see where Treyvon Paulk visited S. Carolina over the weekend?

“We’ll figure out what’s really going on in a couple of weeks. I’ve been talking with them for a while. It’s definitely a good place. They have a good atmosphere and good support from the fans. I definitely got a good vibe. It’s just day-by-day with the coaching deal and we’ll figure it out.”

Interesting comment

SBNRecruiting: Mon 11:45am Sometimes the first choice is awful. Sometimes the fifth choice is good. Butch Jones was like Tennessee's millionth choice and he's OK.

Why would you bolt when they have to pay you 15M to fire you? That's a much bigger slap in the face than giving them what they wanted for free and not making them pay the buyout.

True. Forgot about the buyout. Good point.

lol, agenda. I love how on VN if you have an opinion someone else doesn't like you are suddenly the chairman of some weird committee or something.

Nah dude. No agenda. Just having a conversation.
