Anybody think Miles bolts from LSU given the opportunity? Given the recent shenanigans with their AD and boosters I'd say he'd be more than willing to listen to other offers. I know I wouldn't show an ounce of loyalty to a group that tried to strong-arm me out the door.

Stay and spite them or leave and spite them. Either way the AD looks like an idiot.

Miles may hate the administration and love everything else about the job. Hard to know.

Thinking back on this regular season a bit this morning...

Tough losses for sure early on. At some point this year we were sitting with a 2-3 record in the 2nd quarter against Georgia down 24-3 with Bama looming ahead.

This season could have spiraled, and nobody would have been surprised. It didn't and we finished strong. Heck of a job by the coaches to keep this team focused and on task. Butch never let them believe they were what their record said they were.

Also Dobbs staying healthy over the past 5 games was huge for this season. I know everybody thinks Dormady is the greatest, but he's a freshman and he would not have been ready. He probably would have cost us at least one of those games down the stretch, maybe more.

Our backup QB situation was unfortunate going into the year. It is absolutely HUGE that Dobbs stayed healthy. Credit to him for getting his body prepared to withstand this season. That man has taken some shots this year and always hopped right back up like a warrior.

I'll never forget that play against Georgia where Hurd fumbled and they ran it back 99 yards and Dobbs chased Leonard Floyd all the way down the field and almost poked the ball out right before he crossed the goal line. Balls to the wall hustle. All out. Every play.

Dobbs represents everything I want my QB to be. He's the ultimate team player. He's a great leader. He's actually capable of being a great role model for young Vols all over the country. He embraces that and knocks it out of the park.

I wish he threw a little better. But I expect that he will take another step forward as a passer between now and next season. Regardless he just lead one of the better offenses in Tennessee football history. Points are points and Dobbs helped this team score lots.

I really hope we get the chance to beat somebody in a bowl game that everybody thinks is better than us.

So with UGA, Miami, South Carolina, USCw (before today), and Missouri all having openings....

And with several second-tier hot-name coaches presumably available ...

So far:

- Fuente to VaTech
- Herman staying at Houston
- Helton becoming permanent at USCw
- babers to UCF (ever completely confirmed?)

Seems like some odd moves overall.

Well the coaching carousel isnt as intriguing as we thought but atleast the East took some hits. Still not so fast on the Les and Jimbo situation but we shall see.

Great post.

My expectation for Dobbs next year isn't to improve his passing that much (maybe 25+ extra yards per game), but rather to further reduce his interceptions and fumbles.

He will be very much like Connor Shaw was for South Carolina in 2013. Throw for around 2,300-2,500 yards, 20 or so touchdowns, and fewer than 5 INTs. Add in another 500-600 yards on the ground and 10 touchdowns. Just a brutally effective QB who doesn't put up flashy stats, but can always make plays when it counts and never hurts his team.

.@darrenrovell: Georgia AD Greg McGarity said he'll use a search firm to find his next college football coach. Nothing like outsourcing most important call

Wouldn't make sense to hire a search firm if smart was already the guy

Smoke and mirrors to make people think your actually doing a search. He already knows who he wants. He wouldn't have fired Richt if he didnt

I really think if Dobbs just makes the easy throws look a little easier between now and next year that will help him a lot.

On some of those swing passes to Kamara this year.... He would put the ball at his feet or way out in front or behind where Kamara had to adjust and make an athletic play just to catch it. That halts his momentum and gives defenders a chance to get the angle on him.

Man if he starts catching those perfectly in stride he's gonna take a few to the house.

Why would you bolt when they have to pay you 15M to fire you? That's a much bigger slap in the face than giving them what they wanted for free and not making them pay the buyout.

Dead on. Herman wouldn't have agreed to a new contract at Houston unless UGA has turned him down. All signs point to Kirby @ UGA.

Good, let him deal with managing a program for the first time in a high pressure conference with massive expectations. Not a good position to learn on the job like a mid major.

Dobbs has been outstanding on third downs, especially lately. And that's throwing and running. He's got to terrify defenses. Sure, he's not likely to bomb it, but he can keep a play alive and either run it himself or chuck it to an open receiver.

Another offseason is only going to make him harder to defend. I'd love to see them work on that long ball. If he can add that in, whew.

I think a healthy Preston Williams should help that.

Herman threw that out for more leverage and to keep his name hot for next year. You want your name listed in high profile jobs to make other high profile jobs say well UGA wanted him then we should too. Gamesmanship. Agents at work. Hermans preference is TX area or stay West where his connections are. TX and Tx AM are the ones he really wants. Sumlin would have to leave for AM one though.

Thing with Dobbs is he'll put up gaudy numbers if he and his receivers are more consistent next year. A healthy P.Williams could develop into the Alpha WR. Malone has grown and unlike a few in here I think he will develop into a very good WR for us. I just hope North can stay healthy. Croom being back will be big. Josh Smith will be grow as well too. Also the Perry kid is explosive too. Just need the guys to stay healthy. They can be extremely productive.

Is there any opportunity for Marquez North to get a medical redshirt for this year like Josh Smith got?

Would love to see a healthy North in this offense next season. I hope he can figure out how to overcome some of these injuries.
