Anyone else think that USC knew they weren't getting chip and decided to punt for a year by keeping Helton? Could backfire if so.

Oh, well I was going by what my bama friend has been saying for weeks. He was talking like it was almost sure that bama would not keep Kiffin.

Actually just texted him to see if that was the situation....
Me: "you still think Saban kicks Kiffin out?"
Bama friend: "it has supposedly been done for weeks."

So I guess it could be rumors and such....I don't know. I just want for bama whatever would hurt them the most. Ha

Interesting, he seems to have done a very good job there.

.@darrenrovell: Georgia AD Greg McGarity said he'll use a search firm to find his next college football coach. Nothing like outsourcing most important call

Wouldn't make sense to hire a search firm if smart was already the guy

Source tells FootballScoop USC officials met w Chip in Philly (believe it was Friday). Chip likes the league life Database Error

He's an X's and O's hermit...hates recruiting and the other mundane details of college coaching...kinda mini-Belichick...needs to exhibit personality too much at the university level. He had some salty recruiters at Oregon and that helped mask some shortcomings. But his use of Willie Lyles was another symptom. :ermm:

Yeah, but I'm not sure the league life likes him. Maybe the Titans take a shot to reunite him with his former QB.

He might be okay with a strong GM. It was his ridiculous personnel decisions that have killed him in Philly, not his in-game coaching.

I'm not sure he gets another shot though.

Why is this baffling? They have watched the guy do the job up close, and think he can do a good job. What is baffling is people thinking that a big name, is always the way to go for a big program.

Big name or not, interim head coaching experience is all he has. Being a good coordinator and position coach has nothing to do with managing an entire program. Baffling that arguably the top open job and a very high profile job that comes with national scrutiny didn't go for someone with program managing experience.

Anybody think Miles bolts from LSU given the opportunity? Given the recent shenanigans with their AD and boosters I'd say he'd be more than willing to listen to other offers. I know I wouldn't show an ounce of loyalty to a group that tried to strong-arm me out the door.
