Kesling

Kessling is a great TV guy when reading scripts, like official videos or CBJ show.. Also very polished for speeches and functions... He is NOT that great of a play by play guy.. I cant see the game in my mind with him as I could or can with others... Also home radio broadcasters should be big time homers.. They should say we, our, their, and them... Should be absolutely no doubt if your driving along, pick up a game broadcast, and know immediately which schools broadcast team your listening to

I thought for a while during the Kentucky game that Bob and Pat Ryan(filling in for Tim Priest) were working for the Wildcat Sports Network with all the credit they were giving to Kentucky.

he rarely gives the score in basketball games that literally changes within seconds. He has gone minutes, several minutes without updating the score during basketball games. That's just malpractice! Set a freaking timer that flashes a light every 20-30 seconds and give the current score of the basketball game....

exactly!

He's just as sucky with basketball as he is with football. Don't kid yourself.....

DAMMIT BOB..... DAMMIT BOB..... DAMMIT

And if he does give the score, he'll say 24-19...ok Bob...just got in the car...who is ahead??? Used to listen at Neyland Stadium & he would get the yard line wrong about 1/4 of the time! He's no John Ward but at least he's not a Larry Munson (worst ever!!!even worse than Verne!) or Eli Gold. Just threw up in my mouth!!

Why? It's all available via phone app now. Where games are carried is largely irrelevant and in a few years won't matter at all as just about everyone has some electronic device that allows them to pick up the broadcast.

Wish the apps weren't 1-2 minutes behind!!

Munson did VANDY games WAY back in the day so he hated UT!! He'd make me root against GA the few times I listened to him

Munson was an old drunk and i bet late in his announcing career he was liquored up a good deal of the time. Munson was nothing like the classic Larry Munson we know and hate until the 1973 Tennessee-Georgia game. He started yelling "My God we beat Tennessee in Neyland".

Munson announced Wyoming football 1944-1945 and Vandy football from 1946-1967 and was a sportscaster on one of the Nashville TV stations. He lived in Nashville the entire time he announced Georgia football

I've always thought that Kesling calls a pretty decsent game. One thing I've figured out through the years, is Bob is extremely nice guy. From listening to some of the other schools radio guys, Kesling is a lot better than some give him credit for.

Agreed. It really is counter intuitive, and yet he is clearly better with hoops. He gets the action correct and the names correct for the most part. I have noticed this, too.

It is true that there will never be anyone in the history of the game of basketball who could call a game better on the radio than John Ward.

Amen for John Ward, be it basketball OR football.

I will cry like a baby the day john ward leaves this earth. Soooo many memories and most of them tied to his voice.

Yet how much hell would bob catch if he had the same call Ward had at the end of the ND football game???

"It's good................no it's no good , Tennessee beats Notre Damn"

Buddy of mine threw the radio after the "it's good" and didn't know until the next day ward screwed it up!

Hilarious memory

John Ward is a living legend. He's built up a lifetime supply of mulligans for botched calls.

Amen for John Ward, be it basketball OR football.

John Ward was great at both, but when he was in his prime, especially during the 1970s and 80's he was the best play-by-play basketball radio announcer the game has ever seen on any level. No one has ever been better.

About the only thing close to as annoying and terrible as Bob calling a game are the posters who defend him saying "it's hard to follow a legend." While that is true, let's call a spade a spade.....Bob sucks at calling games, football and basketball. If he'd do a little time learning who is on the team once or twice a week instead of pounding down food or whatever the heck he is doing, then he would at least be making some progress.

-he not only mispronounces names, but will just flat out make up names at times. ( Rajion Lane, Jujuan lofton, etc....there are plenty more)

-can't calculate yardage right. Will call a 2 yard run on 1st and 10 and then will say it's 2nd and 3. .?????

-does anyone ever know how much time is left in a game, football or basketball, when listening to this bumbling fool?

-or the score if you are just checking in for a score update?

-where the heck are they on the field at any given moment? Or why is he about three plays behind during basketball?

- cheggerboards......nuff said.

Bob should've packed his bags and went with fulmer. And take Dearstone with him.

I tried to listen to BK for a couple of years after he took over. He was horrible so I quit listening to him. Over the years, including this year, I've tuned in to hear his call only to tune him back out and just turn the volume off. The only time I turn the volume up is to hear the official's call.
