Whatever...I'm already over this. If Butch does leave for a job that's less pressure, then bye bye! And if, big if, he does, then he goes against everything he's been preaching to these young men about resiliency, mental toughness, etc, etc.

I still don't think he leaves...I agree with volatil. This is all being said and done by Butch's agent to get an extension, more money, field turf, or a combination of all of them.

Somewhat hesitant to post this since this scary situation could possibly lead to WW3 (but hopefully not)....

Actually, I was joking. But I am with you. Call his bluff. I would think lots of good coaches would be itching to work with the talent that is at UT now.

Yeah I knew you were joking. Laughed a little when I read your post. We have tons of talent. Next year is going to be spectacular. Maybe not NC, but we will win the East. No reason we cant.

With a large fan base, you are going to have a spectrum of fans. When things are going badly, it pushes the spectrum toward the negative. When that happens, the most negative on that spectrum--mixed with the right amount of stupidity--will do really, really dumb (and often illegal) things. People get threatened and assaulted, trees get killed, etc.

Now this group I'm referring to is very, very small, but it doesn't take many to realize that some take this game more than a little too seriously in a bad way. These types sour the game for everyone, but I can especially see it souring things for coaches, players, administrators and the families of those groups.

I would like to think no one on VN would be so stupid, but it wouldn't surprise me if a very, very few did. One thing that bothers me is the way some people show their disapproval. Being critical is fine, but being a jerk (or worse) only reflects upon yourself and, sadly, those around you. Be mindful of how you display your emotion (probably preaching to the choir in this thread).

Sorry for the mini-rant.

This is all true, but if you coach any team with a large fan base, then it's gonna be the same thing different place. You'd be running forever. Even Bama with all their winning has the Harvey Updykes.

You got that right. Losing 7 offensive players including three running backs and the QB who could spell Thomas and let him see from the sideline what the D was doing from time to time really hurt. The D is always questionable at Tech under Johnson. He doesn't recruit well outside of the O players that fit his system.

The RF has slowly over the last several months been infiltrated by FF'ers. Would you kindly find your way back over there. Oh, and if you would, could you please take a couple of the long time RF'ers with you. We don't want them anymore either.

Seriously. Leave the stupid rumors over there where they belong, along with your dumbass opinions about football in general. They may be your opinion, but they are stupid.

Thanks in advance,

Me

@JimmyHyams: The Colossus jumbotron to be used for Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol (Sept., 2016) has 4 LED screens, each 29.5 feet tall, 62.9 feet wide.

@JimmyHyams: It is the largest outdoor, center-hung screen display in the world. Equal to about 1,145 50-inch TVs. It will be used at April race at BMS

@JimmyHyams: Colossus weighs nearly 700 tons

No doubt at all. Thick skin is a requirement.

It's just disappointing that fellow humans do this over a game. Passion is great, but it easily falls sway to the dark side.

*This is probably BS, but I will post it because it is interesting.

Kiffin has also supposedly been mentioned in regards to the Memphis job.

Told my mom after the 'Bama game that I thought Kiffin might wind up in Memphis. Decent spot for him to try to build a good head coaching resume.

I'd be afraid to be under that thing.

So we're about to blow the Dores off of Vandy this weekend.

Butch will collect his 8th victory and get an invite to The Outback Bowl.

There we will resume our dominance over the BIG10.

Soon afterwards, Butch will declare his love for UT. He will say how much his family loves Knoxville.

It will be announced that Field Turf will be installed prior to 2016.

He gets an extension.

Pre-season top 10-15
