My only real worry and complaint now about this staff is I'm not sure they have figured out the balance between pushing hard and too hard particularly at WR. 3yrs in a row now of practically now WRs left at end of season.

I think the 4th qtr blown lead stuff will go away and staff learned their lessons from that. It's also not a common occurrence for his teams in past until this year in that early stretch run. I know a lot of people want to point to offensive playcalling but defensive crunch time was really the problem and that has been fixed with emergence of Foreman and Kirkland getting better and insertion of Justin Martin making secondary a near no fly zone

Would love for us to somehow bring the chief home if Jancek were to get a job elsewhere. I think Jancek is ok but i think a really elite defensive mind could make our D even more impressive

I'd rather Mason get fired and become our DC. Sucks as a head coach, but boy can coach some defense. Makes chicken salad out of chicken..well you know.

Agreed but I am a huge fan of Jancek right now. I want him to stay and I doubt chief would leave after 1 year at A&M. Maybe down the road

Can't recruit worth a crap. Doing it with guys Bob Shoop brought it under Franklin. Mason won't make it past next season. Offense will still be too bad to make up for great defense. Special teams is also terrible. We all saw in fulmers last year a top 10 defense don't mean crap without offense and special teams

Sry wasn't referring to Mason as a DC. Was talking about his time and future at Vandy. He would never come here as DC amyway but if he did it would be easy to recruit as DC to TN. I was just saying he is not going to make it at a Vandy because he and his staff don't have what it takes to recruit at this level with a huge disadvantage. It takes a Franklin type of guy to make them think they are better than they really are.

Butch jones pursued that job because his wife hates knoxville


Said the 4mil buyout likely ruined the chances of that happening and Fuentes is getting the job next week.

Said jones is actively looking for the right fit even if it's lesser job



Please remember I came here asking if this poster had a history of having info or bs.

I know of a D1 b ball coach and he would tell you that you make as much money as you can doing this job because you never know when it will end and you need to take care of your family. Money is a big motivator on where you coach. Now, once you are making so much that it doesn't matter if it is a mill or two over a few years then it doesn't. But if LSU were to guarantee him say 10 million more than FSU, he would leave in a heart beat in my opinion. If you don't think Les is happy about the potential of 15 million to do nothing but vacate at the age of 62 and know his entire family is well taken care of, then you are more crazy than the Madhatter himself. Not talking about you Ziti..........just not quoting The Bruin Fish anymore out of a courtesy to VN.

Jones doesn't like the pressure, he appreciates the fan support but doesn't like the other side and after the loss to Arkansas this year it really got to him. I don't know this as fact but from what I understand Barb Jones isn't happy in Knoxville and wants out. Do I think Butch Jones will leave? No but it would be foolish to think it wouldn't happen given the circumstances. He's not happy from a personal stand point and it shows, he is happy from a football stand point though. So which out weighs the other? I think Jones is a great mid level coach who is growing his way into a good SEC coach if he can hang in for a little while longer.

Even if the poster was connected to Va Tech, his claims aren't any more than any coaching agent does every year at this time.

Any agent is going to shop his client around. It's his job. It keeps his name in the hiring circles and makes current ADs nervous enough to make extensions.

He didn't explain how he knows Butch and family aren't happy with the fan side of things, but he's not the first to posit this.
