I'm getting a bad feeling about this offseason. I don't have any confidence whatsoever that UT will pony up the necessary funds it will take to keep the ones we need, and hire good replacements for the ones that leave. I think competition for coaching talent is going to drive salaries through the roof. And I believe the powers that be are cheapskates.

Assistant salaries are a drop in the bucket compared to head coaching salaries. If Butch asks Hart for the money to keep his guys, he will get what he wants. Of course, some guys may want to leave on their own accord, may be asked to leave, or may get big promotions (DC or OC opportunities) that we can't match.

I think the team and staff will be better. Butch's chair temperature and future earnings kindve hinge on next season imo so he has a lot of stock riding on it.

Pay the coaches. A lot of them absolutely deserve it. I think we end up replacing 2 position coaches.

Not meaning to be doom and gloom, but this offseason may be the craziest I've ever seen. Do you have confidence our admin will pay what it takes?...I sure the heck don't. They are cheap.

If there's one thing I've learned about tennessees AD, it's that they are cheap.

Yes I have confidence but I also have even more in cbj.

Assistant coaches aren't as important on his staff IMO

The only thing I've seen over here was LWS alluding to some "friends" of Butch might be on their way out. Thigpen hasn't been with Butch that long. Unless there is more information on the other site that I'm unaware of.

Mahoney and Jancek have been with Butch a long time. Not sure how long some of the other position coaches have been with him though. Azzani and Jones are rumored to be pretty tight but that would be too good to be true probably that Azzani would be on the way out.

I'm pretty sure he did or would have if he had put himself out there. He made some comments that he would only consider a job where he had a chance to be successful, or something like that. I think the implication was he wanted a job in a major conference with a legit chance to compete for titles.

I assume he either got offered a job at smaller programs and he turned them down or he expressed that he didn't have any interest so he was never approached. I can think of a lot of lower-tier power 5 schools or smaller conference schools that should have wanted him.

But I also didn't see the friend post either

I honestly don't remember Butchna. I have seen a lot of posts alluding to it going back to last off season. Nobody..including me..seems to want to talk specifics. Matter of fact, now that I think about it, I wish I hadn't said anything about it

This is accurate. But he said fans would be surprised. We all expect CZA or Mahoney. LWS himself is usually quite vague so maybe he meant the replacements would be the surprise. He was so vague in fact, that now I've confused myself about it.

Week or two ago I think. You could look at his post history. I think it was the second or third to the last post he made. There was some speculation at the beginning of the year before the season even that some changes on the defensive side of the ball might happen. Jancek would be a huge change but IDK if you go there unless you have a DC like say Bud Foster lined up.
