Strip isn't going anywhere.

The coordinators are the only ones that matter. Keep them both and the others are easily replaceable. CBJ is the only recruiter that matters

Opposite. Position coaches make jancek look good. He's the replaceable one. Debord is definitely replaceable.

Let's count all the ways Vandy sucks:

Red zone offense: Dead last in FBS. They've only been to the red zone 28 times (!) with 17 scores, 6 of those being field goals. 11 offensive touchdowns all year in the red zone.

Total offense: 119th in FBS. 16 total offensive touchdowns. A whole bunch of those came against hapless Austin Peay.

Passing offense: 112th in FBS. 8 touchdowns to 15 INTs. I'm not sure how many of those picks led directly to scores for the other team, but #teamanalytics suggests that the Dores passing the ball at all is not a good idea this year.

Completion percentage: 108th in FBS. Their QBs are completing 51.8 percent of their passes.

Rushing offense: 93rd in FBS. What?! Vandy isn't in the bottom 20 of an offensive statistical category? Oh....they average 3.60 yards per carry on the ground with 8 touchdowns on the season. In other words: they run Ralph Webb a lot. He gets tackled at the line of scrimmage a lot. He's a 1,000 yard rusher now with about 800 carries on the season.

Punt return defense: 117th in FBS. Opponents average 13.27 yards per return.

Turnover margin: 108th in FBS. 15 takeaways, 24 giveaways. That ain't winning football.

Net punting: 119th in FBS. 33.95 yards/punt average. No Trevor Daniel lurking on West End.

Oh, and their defense is pretty good, but actually worse than Mizzou's statistically. 5 yards per play allowed vs Mizzou's 4.38. 20 touchdowns allowed vs Mizzou's 18.

There's no reason for us to not absolutely crush them.

Will use in my pregame thread this week. :hi:

So we'd basically lose McNeil and Randolph at safety (between Kelly, Berry, Jennings, Gaulden, Griffin, and the 2016 class, it seems manageable) and Owen Williams would be a big loss but we look to add depth with Picou, the incoming JUCO, Tuttle returning, and Christmas-Giles.

Our entire offense should return sans Crowder, Pearson, and Kerbyson...

Damn.

Yeah I don't see that at all. Stripling is an outstanding position coach with the resume and production to back it up. But Jancek is a LB guy, so who outside of the program really knows how much of the good LB play is on him and how much is on Thig. As for Martinez, the DB's have really come on lately but they were clearly one of the weaker links during the first half of the season.

And as for Debord, the offense has improved in virtually every category. I think most seem to agree that the deficiencies in the passing game could have more to do with the passing game coordinator.

good info!

Dobbs beat them by himself last yr and its the same players on both sides. Last yr Jalen had a quick 20 yards before he got the concussion. North was out as he always is. Smith was out, we had no kamara. Gilliam was on one leg and Crowder was the Center. Croom played like 5 snaps in the game. It was ugly but we still managed to run for 170-180 on them.

If Sutton and JRM return we'll be loaded. We only need to land an offensive playmaker like Mecole Hardman and we'll be loaded across the board.

Yep. They also had Patton Robinette, who is actually a decent QB. Now they have...umm...who is starting for them again? Shurmur? McCrary?

Hadn't seen this mentioned. From a 247 article...

"Tennessee’s sophomore running back waited by the team bus in 24-degree weather and hugged each and every offensive linemen before they walked up the steps."

Hugging them to say goodbye before he transfers.

JRM has slightly outperformed Sutton this year imo.

Having them both back next year could be the difference in getting to Atlanta.

They have Saivion Smith, the top cornerback in the country, and some other highly-ranked DB's, but I don't think any have shown much interest in UT.

If there are any uncommitted recruits currently torn between UT and LSU, though, Miles's departure could push them in our direction. I think we landed Justin Martin last year after John Chavis was chased out of town.

There was a play, I think in the early third....

Kamara had a first down gain of probably 12 yards and as he was running out of bounds on the near sideline a defender was trying to get his arms around him and Kamara repeatedly Mike Tyson punched-out heem. I giggled like a fool.

These guys are getting an edge to them AND I LOVE IT. 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

I'm still SMH at Iowa. 65th ranked strength of schedule and they're #3 in AP. The best team they played was Northwestern and Wisconsin.

There's no point of Tennessee playing good OOC teams anymore as long as we schedule Bama. The SoS clearly isn't used in determining rankings, so why schedule anyone else hard?
