Arkansas is 6-5 and is in the others receiving votes in the latest coaches poll.

Tennessee is not.

Total crap

But, but they play in the West! Seriously, is there a team worth an ish outside of Bama in the West this year? Similarly, UF and UT seem to be the only decent teams in the East and UF is awful without roid boy.

Prob wishes CBJ lost the team after Arky and got fired. Unfortunately that's how some of this fanbase thinks.

CBJ should get props for not letting this team fall into the negativity the outside was pouring on. It was enough at the time for any team to end up Tanking. They keep fighting and keep being prepared for each game. Fighting through a crazy amount of injuries to key players.

Considering the bs I have had to watch for the past decade at this school I am not going to complain about 7 wins which is most in a regular season here in a long time with a easy shot at 8 then 9 in a bowl game. Before season I thought 8 reg and 9 after bowl before knowing about any injuries.

Is it perfect progress? No but it's without a doubt progress. Imagine what this team looks like next year returning almost entire squad, getting healthy guys back and another recruiting class.

:hi:

Looks like Mizzou/Ark, Iowa/Nedraska, and TCU/Baylor are the only games worth tuning in for Friday. Underwhelming line up this year.

similar IMO. Good thing is our type of offense seems to be the one that can score pts on them. Houston and AM didn't have trouble with Vandy D

The only thing that worries me is that both those teams can stretch the field, our Vols not so much. It's amazing to me that we were able to rush the ball against Mizz with virtually no vertical passing attack.

Yes, as an SEC level coach, he's "relatively" inexperienced.

Well he went from a school where folks are passing fans of the team to one so obsessed with football that it has one of the largest sports media pools, a ginormous national following, an insane amount of social media users for any program, and a place where 45k+ will show up to watch PRACTICE. Hell, when we stripped Neyland of turf people literally asked to be let in so they could watch the grass grow! That's a huge shock to the system that takes some getting used to.

On the field, he had to get used to just how different teams were. Although Butch always praised the SEC, I think the level of play across the board was another shock. Remember Derek Mason coming from the PAC and saying while the SEC is the best conference the PAC was better top to bottom? Notice he doesn't say that anymore and the PAC is a good conference.

And those are just a few examples. So yes, I think it's spot on to say that Butch is still learning and will grow into the SEC. He's already shown adjustments to his approach since the 3 heartbreakers and I expect he will grow more and get better with more experience.

I think what aggravates me is that we could be undefeated... We are also notorious for blown leads in the second half.

Nobody else does it like the VOLS, so that is worrisome. It could just be that those teams are just that good, and nobody has had the same schedule that we have.

I tend to look at that with the glass half full mindset, though--especially when 3 of the top five teams and four of the top ten we either slaughtered in a bowl game or had leads into the fourth quarter.

Actually, most current SEC coaches had less HC experience when they took their jobs. Maybe all of them outside of Pinkel.

Saban? Spurrier? Bielema? Miles had 4 years at a power 5 school.

Mason and Stoops had no HC experience, and at this point, they have been disappointments. Mullen ended up being a good hire with no HC experience, but he was even criticized after having mediocre years in his 3rd and 4th years. He has only had one team with an above .500 conference record in 6 years.

Vandy's offense rests on their little running back the same as Mizzou's was dependant on Hansborough. They also love to throw to their TE and their TE is pretty good. Other than that they're bad on offense. Their defense is pretty good but they can't stop us from running (no one's been able to accomplish that yet) and Mizzou has the better DL.

That said, Vandy always plays inspired ball against us. We have been their bowl game more times than not and this year won't be any different. They'll go all out to play spoiler and turn what can be a pretty good season into a mediocre one. It doesn't really show as well on tv but some of the most physical, vicious, and even dirty games I've watched at Neyland have been against Vandy.

Hopefully, Jalen makes up for the lost time from last year and runs all over them. I'd love to see a rout but I don't expect one because Vandy will treat this as their most important game.
