So what you're saying is we should go on losing to our main two rivals for another decade and then continue to convince ourselves of our national relevancy?

Sound logic.

No...fire Butch. That way there's no way he could possibly disappoint us. Mucho logic.

Oh, this discussion again ...

FWIW, for those that don't tune into The Butch Jones Show every week, this Sunday's episode addressed 2 issues that have been asked here:

1) CBJ mentioned that the offensive play calling last Saturday was intended to keep Dobbs from having to scramble, in order to "rest" him. I believe they even estimated how many times he has been hit this season (or was that here? I'm getting old)

2) They did a segment discussing some of the injury prevention training and monitoring that they do, so yes, they do injury prevention training. That segment was pretty interesting to me.

I'm still a big fan of Erik Ainge's segments on the show, where he breaks down a couple of offensive and defensive plays. Sometimes, you can almost see him reliving his QB years as he calls out the snap cadence during the show. Good for him! :good!:

That's all.... like I said, FWIW. And no, I'm not affiliated with the program in any way...

A lot of people are stupid then. Butch has taken a program in ruins and made it into a legit program once again.

He might not be the guy to get us championships. But he's been a success already simply bringing us back to national relevance.

We are improving by leaps and bounds, there is really no doubt. But, no one should deny the vast amounts of good will that will be garnered by a win over Florida or Bama. A win over both in the same year, well, I don't want to speculate the level of hype that would result.

Something similar to this would be my guess.

It's fair to say that Butch doesn't have any excuses next year.

I don't want to hear anything about youth, learning how to win or 40% of the team has never been on a road game.

Sigh...

We're on the upward trend.
We're nationally relevant.

Yaaah...relevance. That is all.

I fail to see how that isn't true or how it's a "fahr Butch" kind of post.

Where have you been for the last 6-7 years? Yes, from ruins and on the way to National relevance. It is happening even if you don't want it.

He brought us to national relevance and a lot of the media were talking about Tennessee when we were playing OU and FL. Then we lost to Arkansas and the hype stopped.

Even most of the national pundits said Bama was sleepwalking through the whole game and did not even mention anything of Tennessee being a good team.

Also, what about the SEC network guys that were ragging on Butch after the Florida Loss. Several media members wrote articles and criticized Butch for the collapse and not going for 2.

Why go on with the torment? Job had it easier than us.

Ruins is an overstatement and we're not nationally relevant.

Your last statement is silly.

Ruin is overstatement?!?! That state of the program at the end of Dooley's tenure is the exact definition of ruin. The state of our program was in the cellar of our conference, at-or-below UK and Vandy. Pulling out of that while simultaneously fighting heavy weights on the way up is a tough task.

Yes, an overstatement.

There are tons of resources at Tennessee. There was no serious trouble getting in the way. The roster could have been much better, sure.

I have zero issues with the objective overall growth of this program. I do have individual issue with particular performances but they don't outweigh the gains. I do have concerns about this years recruiting class and eroding some gains we've made.

Specifically our arms race with UF. They actual had more talent on papee but that was supposed to end this year with a strong class. Instead as gators are hinting it could swing back in their favor.
