If the deerpark rumor is true that he hired someone who had never managed a football field, that's a major strike. A freshman art major could make a better hiring decision than that. Hart hasn't really done anything right since coming here. He stumbled into Butch after failing to get guys he wanted, and that's been his best accomplishment.

Eh... Has he not navigated the financial mess he inherited somewhat well? :dunno:

Hart has also benefitted from the SEC network payout. $20.9 million in 2014 and $31.2 million in 2015 plus bowl game payouts. Bringing up money when talking about maintaining the field is laughable, if that's the case. There is a group wanting to get rid of Hart for dropping the Lady Vol brand that was getting vocal about firing him after the Arkansas loss. The field seems to be something that could be taken care of pretty easily

This was a Mike Hamilton hire, FTR.

Seems like Barnes has a small attitude. The two times I've heard him(once during Vol calls, one post game).

I can't really put a finger on it, but some of his responses to Kessling have made me wonder ab it. Like an "I'm better than you" approach. Maybe it's nothing. Maybe I'm use to hearing toughness and resiliency too much.

Maybe a touch, but I think a lot of it is that he's got a different approach than the up and comers we're used to having with UT Basketball. He hasn't rubbed me the wrong way at all.

And thank God he didn't get the guy he wanted. Strong has been a disaster at Texas. I think it's fair to say that he'd have done similarly here. And yeah, while CBJ is trending upwards, he's yet to solidified anything other than recruiting.

The Tyndall hire is enough to have him fired at some schools. Hiring a football grounds keeper...with no experience?? Yeah...he's not the best personnel guy.

It's Wednesday and time for picks. 45-25 ATS for the season. Here goes:

This week’s Wednesday lines:

Kentucky at -3 Vanderbilt
Alabama at +8 Miss St
Arkansas at -7.5 LSU
Georgia at -1.5 Auburn
BYU at +6.5 Missouri
N. Texas at -41.5 Tennessee
Florida at +7.5 South Carolina
Western Carolina at Texas A&M (currently off – will update)

My picks:

Kentucky 20 Vanderbilt 10
Alabama 31 Miss St 20
Arkansas 40 LSU 35
Georgia 23 Auburn 30
BYU 24 Missouri 13
N. Texas 0 Tennessee 63
Florida 23 South Carolina 24
Western Carolina 20 Texas A&M 59

I like Kentucky, Arkansas, and South Carolina to win straight up this week as underdogs, and Auburn to beat Georgia (they opened as an underdog but the line has moved them to a slight favorite).

Good luck!

GBOV.

Oh my. Tough week.

Actual scores:

Kentucky 17 Vanderbilt 21 L
Alabama 31 Miss St. 6 W
Arkansas 31 LSU 14 W
Georgia 20 Auburn 13 L
BYU 16 Missouri 20 L
N. Texas 0 Tennessee 24 L
Florida 24 South Carolina 14 L
Western Carolina 17 Texas A&M 41 L (I had picked Western Carolina to lose by 39, but the actual line was A&M -36, so I lost this one as well)

2-6 on the week drops me to 47-31 ATS for the year. Need to have a good week this week. Tune in Wednesday.

GBOV

On a more positive note, just found this awesome suit.

He was at little UT for too long. It will take a while to rinse that superiority complex out of his system. And by that I mean that we are superior in all aspects however we don't need to act like it. Pretenders like the little UT have to. He will learn as he grows into a Tennessee basketball coach .

:)

who is this Stephan Robinson kid we are recruiting? hes taking an OV for the Vandy game. Hes from the same JUCO as Justin Martin and DJ Henderson. Kid is a WR/CB and he looks super fast. On film he looks like one of the fastest kids we have recruited this year. Theres just not much info on him.

I think the alleged financial mess was a bit of a ruse to put pressure on Knox County government to let up on the sales tax for tickets.

I'm sure the balance sheet showed we were low on cash but that's kind of to be expected when we had just upgraded a ton of facilities.

Anybody else starting to get a little nervous about the 2016 recruiting class?

We're down to about ~75 days left, 30 of which are a dead period. We have some gems (Guarantano, Osborne, Johnson, Fils-Aime, Brooks if healthy), but we don't have the depth of high-quality talent that we did in the last two classes.

We're still in on some great players (Warrior, Hardman, Davis, Brown, Dickerson), but most of them seem to be trending in the wrong direction at this point. I'm not panicking by any means, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not getting a bit worried.

Some perspective here: 'worried' as in 'worried that our class might be more of the 15-20 tier than the top 10 or top 5'. We're not screwed. But barring a phenomenal finish, we do appear to be looking at a drop from the last couple of classes.

Ok?

Take it from and old guy that has seen a lot through the years, nothing is ever as bad as it seems or as good as it seems. There is nothing that screams "NC" and there's nothing that screams "failure" about Butch, his staff, or his system at this point. We have gone through a lot as a fan base and want this painful climb back to be over now. Not happening soon and we really don't know if it will happen at all. There has been step by step improvement. We are in the prove it stage with recruits. They saw the last two classes. They want to see it translate into winning at a high level on the field like all of us do. So it becomes a coaching and development period of proving it up. Will see.

As to Hart: Nothing has been better about UT since Joe Johnson retired other than facilities upgrades. Even the Pearl period had bad stuff attached. Nothing turns out as good as Hart sells it when he does something. Nothing.

This class is going to be lackluster compared to what we've had the past two years.
