I despise fdr for that reason. People celebrate social security like it's a good thing to get about 1/4 of the return on investment you could get in the private sector. His socialist policies were awful.

And no, you don't have fascism. Is that like the new trendy catch all that's supposed to mean "any form of government that I don't like?"

Fascism involves massive amounts of government power, intervention, and control, which is the opposite of capitalism. Interventionist policies is a foundation of fascist economy.

Yeah, we shouldn't use taxes to benefit ourselves. What was he thinking?

I hate giving Clay the page view but I wanted to read something legitimate he has written (doesn't happen very often anymore). The article is really good at pointing out the hypocrisy and lies of these idiots. I don't care what side you fall on politically...I think we can all agree this whole protest is asinine.

True Christianity is pure compassion and care fir your fellow man, Philippians 2:4-5 "Look not every man in his own things, but every man also on the things of others...Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus."...but the government taking your money, and giving it to causes you don't believe really help anybody is theft. Call it Socialism or whatever you want.

Beyond it being theft, I truly believe it makes most people less willing to give where they want. Why give money to the needy when you already had a huge chunk of cash stolen from you for that alleged purpose? When that happens, It robs us twice. Once from our wallet and then from our heart. Giving to someone who is really in need is one of the true joys in this world. It is sad that is taken from many a taxpayer.

Btw, great convo on the presidential race. I've thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

Trump is pulling some insane crowds: 20K in my town, Springfield, IL. I have doubts about his ability to organize an effective ground game though.

How is getting 1/4 the return on our investment benefiting ourselves? By definition, that's the opposite of benefiting ourselves.

Did you even read my post before quoting it?

Hey jman, how's your health these days? I seem to remember a somewhat serious health issue a year or so ago. Hope all is well.

You've only addressed Social Security. I meant to speak for the breadth of the New Deal and the idea of social welfare in general. Gotta work on my communication skills.

It's not simply the idea of social welfare that many people find objectionable, it's the administration of it on the local, state and federal levels.

Why shouldn't every citizen find it completely unacceptable to create an unfathomable number of agencies with zillions of dollars in budgets that ultimately deliver pennies to those who desperately need it?

I'd say the return on that investment is every bit as poor as Social Security.

I thought I had read somewhere in the past few days there were some boosters or members of the administration that were really angry with Pinkel over this...I might be mistaken or the source was unreliable.

However, I lost a ton of respect for him. The team quit on the season and have quit on each other. I'm thinking he took the position he did to minimize losing the team any further. Pretty selfish and spineless if you ask me.

I'm guessing most if not all of you saw Jason Whitlock's and Clay Travis' piece as well. Bhomani Jones on ESPN Radio was also harshly critical of Pinkel as well.

Everyone affiliated with Missouri football should be extremely embarrassed.

Clay is having to back track a little today because mizzu did provide details of the actual event in question which clay mentioned may have never even happened

Just a question for anybody that wants to answer: what are some of your all's views on Government Welfare? Do you agree with it or disagree with it? Should we abolish it or keep it?

Much better! Thank you for asking! It was a rough year, but I've made a full recovery and have actually been better off than I was before the health issues even started.

Watching you put a splash of nega in your 'Fantastic! ' is pretty cool. Like Linus with his black cloud on a string, lol.

:) After playing a show in front of 2500 fans, girls trying to get autographs I'm all like...

This is jumping way back in conversation, but I felt the need to clarify that I wouldn't vote for Hillary if I was on fire and the voting booth was equipped with a bucket of water that would extinguish me with her vote.

Especially since Iran gave $10million to the Clinton foundation.

If social programs were abolished tomorrow, do you think that our citizens would give enough to make up the difference?

If not, do you think that it's the government's role to step in?

If not, then whose?
