Yep but I have a friend that is close to the program and he just told me a few things about this.

He said he knew that Hurd has expressed his displeasure with the offense to coaches a number of times.

He said he suspected that is why we got under center a few times at Kentucky.

74 has said both of the above.

Now I don't mind posting this Because if a family member is coming on here with this they are opening up themselves. He says the family isn't afraid to play the below the belt and is likely bringing this info here to hopefully bring pressure on cbj to change his style somewhat for Hurd. To put it nicely he isn't a fan of the family.

I am not at liberty to post who is telling me this but if I could most here would agree it's A
Good source. Sorry I know I hate that kind of info as well .

Could you maybe ask this person all the questions you ask VN every day?

Hurd is frustrated because he hasn't had the season he was hoping for in stats. He wants to be up there in the numbers with Henry and Fournette. He certainly has the talent to be up there, but he may barely get to 1000 yards. That is very frustrating to a good player. He is not thinking about transferring or quitting.

Hurd has a right to be frustrated, IMO. He gets punched around and stuffed every game. He's gotten in the OL's faces several times about it. And some of the playcalling is just... inexplicable. Sometimes, it probably feels like he's set up to fail. But I agree-- he won't transfer. He's just tired of the losing.

He has around 850 (I think). 3 to play and a bowl. Could end up around 1300

815, according to ESPN. I would expect maybe another 300-ish the rest of the way. I don't think he plays long enough Saturday to blow it up, and the other 2 defenses are pretty good. Still very good, but probably not the great stats he and we all want him to have.

I really think Hurd will have a great year next year. Offensive line should be improved and hopefully they will be healthy. I think 1300-1500 yards rushing is not impossible for him next year.

I thought we did a decent job of adjusting, honestly. Pearson had his best game as a Vol, but for one seam route where he wasn't looking for the ball. Kamara, Wolf, and Johnson all had receptions of 20 yards or more. Just missed a bomb to Malone that would have iced the game.

We had a couple of fumbles that made our offensive output look worse than it was. But the offensive gameplan was decent. I think South Carolina just decided after that second TD that they were going to live with Dobbs throwing the ball no matter what happened - they didn't want Hurd getting to the third level and sublimating their DBs anymore.

This is my take as well. The plays called seemed OK. The execution was a bit lacking. The fumbles were killers and what nearly cost them the game.

The defense was pretty terrible in the third quarter but held their ground fairly well in the fourth. Tennessee finally got it's own turnover in the fourth to seal the game.

Good teams find ways to win even when they aren't playing well. And on top of that SC isn't as bad as we'd hoped. They've put the Spurrier mess behind them. Florida ought to be careful with this one.

And then argue them into the ground while subtly changing your argument with every counterpoint just to keep the argument going?

Good, because we probably won't lose another game for a while.

Seems like we over recruited Lbs lol. Going to have some transfers soon I'd bet.

Not at all. In fact, they are looking for more. You've got a true freshman starting at MLB--a spot that's caused quite a few problems this season.

Could still have transfers though.

Over recruited for olb. Bates Sapp McDowell Smith Berry all competing for one spot. No one challenging Kirkland for mlb, and sadly no competent backup.

That's old Powell valley/Appalachia right? I went to clintwood. Good players out of there including nfl running backs Thomas and Julius jones.

Yep. I graduated from Appalachia. If I'm not mistaken, James is related to the Jones'.

True at MLB, but isn't competition what every team needs? Besides that, we don't really know what OLB will hold. JRM's got it locked down, and Tennessee doesn't play three LBs a whole lot.

I do get your point though. I'm not trying to start an argument. It's nice to have promising, young players competing for spots again.
