Missouri Players Go On Strike (merged)

This is a political war started by fringe groups and backed by the governor amd Pinkel. Nothing more and nothing less. It's mainly because of the healthcare and planned parenthood issues there....that's the real story.

This is a political assault led by Pinkel and company....

Remember? He drummed up the Michael Sam issue and exploited that as well! Pinkel is a thug......

Where did you come up with this? Everything i've read says it's racial.
Why Missouri football players are going on strike

Whether or not Missouri shows up, the outcomes would be very similar. Like their player said, if they were 9-0 this wouldn't be happening.

In gridiron football, a forfeiture occurs when a team cannot field a minimum of seven players (the number legally required to man a line of scrimmage) at or during game time as a result of a palpably unfair act (only in high school or college football) or (most commonly) punitive retroactive sanctions against a team from a governing body such as the NFL. In the event the team forfeiting the game is already losing at the time of the forfeit, the score at the time stands as is. Otherwise, forfeits result in a 2-0 score in the National Football League or a 1-0 score in high school football, NCAA and Canadian football (such a 1-0 score is possible during regular game play in Canada because of the single but impossible according to American football codes, hence why the NFL chooses 2-0, the lowest possible score, with the winning team awarded a safety).

I saw were Mizzou will owe BYU about $ 1 million if they do not play. So, they will play.

Race card being played...again. If Mizzou gives in to this the administration will lose all credibility and control. The whole school will become nothing...so go students/athletes...do your thing...:)

GO VOLS!

I am sure the players are not ..

Eating the free food
Still getting a free education
Wearing the free gear
So keeping well in the free dorm

They are being treated awful ... Bunch of losers

They've recognized the power they have and are exercising it to effect what they perceive as a needed change.

I got no issue.

GO VOLS!

Universities actively teach kids to play the oppressed minority card (race, gender, sexual preference, non-Christian religion, size, class, you name it) so it's no surprise they are now. I know we probably might not have the full story, but this looks like an over reaction to an inaction at this point.

From what I read on ESPN and someone shared the tweet here last night, a part of the team is not down with this and are basically being held hostage by the part that is. If this is the hill they want to die on, then mizzou has lost my respect.

I am confused. 32 players are protesting so that still leaves 53 scholarship athletes and walk ons that could play the game if this continues.

If the strike continues at Missouri by the football players, I'm assuming it impossible to scedule a replacement game since all of the scedules are set in stone. Could we play an opponent one week after the season? Possibly BYU? It looks like they will be without their game against Missouri this week.

What would the NCAA and the conferences involved do? There are contractual arrangements made and many, many things will be effected by this.

I would personally like for the Missouri players to play for their fanbase and themselves. I understand they want the removal of the President. Can't these demands be met, if justifiable, without putting their fans and other teammates in jeopardy?

It almost sounds more of a political movement since the issues surrounding this involve healthcare and planned parenthood....

If the President is unfit to serve as President then remove him like you would anyone. I just don't get the whole quit on your fellow teammates and fanbase strategy.....

Take the forfeit and get ready/healthy for Vandy.

Mizzou should find a new coach if he keeps this up. He signed a contract withe the school to coach football, and if he's not doing that he needs to be fired.

I'm not gonna answer that preposterous question. But I will tell you some of the instances of racism I experienced in college.

First, I was constantly asked to show my ID to campus police when I was walking around campus. I thought this was normal for everyone till I asked my white friends and they said they never has any instances with campus police and the need to show ID.

Second, parties on campus were very segregated. The black frats would do their own thing on one part of campus white frats would do their own thing elsewhere. When I attended black frat parties there were always cops around. And there were metal detectors checking folks for weapons before letting us into an on campus party. Once again I thought this was normal till I decided to attend some white parties and saw no cops or metal detectors around.

And this doesn't include all the times I was asked around campus whether I played on the football or basketball team. FYI I was on academic scholarship.

This is what black folks and especially black men have to deal with on predominantly white college campuses. We are not treated as part of the college community but rather as outsiders. I'm sure the kids at Missouri have similar experiences which is why they've rightfully demanded changes so they can feel as safe in campus as their white classmates.

Ok, parties we segregated by choice. Just like most churches are segregated by choice.

I can't make you attend a white frat party no more than you can make me attend a black one

When we get called to do extra duty at black clubs, its not because we are made to be there, its because the business owners, who are black, hire us to be there.

Do you think that these frats might have asked the cops to be there because of problems on the past?

We have a historically black university that hires extra duty officers all the time because of issues with a small percentage of students on campus. Most of the ones that come in, don't attend, but are associated with people that do. Should we not assist when the school asked us to because it might make people uneasy?

I also I didn't figure you would answer the question. It doesn't fit the racism spectrum you've been taught through the years. It's OK though

It's not as worse as hearing other black people call black officers Uncle Tom, Sell out N, and many other things just because the don't tow the line
