Missouri Players Go On Strike (merged)

Hey mods moved this to the politics thread. One of the 25 year olds has went on a hunger strike until Wolfe resigns. He said either he dies of hunger or Wolfe steps down.

I'm hungry all the sudden

I believe a forfeit would go in the books as a 1-0 victory for the Vols, but I think things will get sorted out before then.

I'm betting that it gives them a rallying point, and they play their best game of the year against us.

Thomas Shapiro argues that wealth is passed along from generation to generation, giving whites a better "starting point" in life than other races. According to Shapiro, many whites receive financial assistance from their parents allowing them to live beyond their income. This, in turn, enables them to buy houses and major assets which aid in the accumulation of wealth. Since houses in white neighborhoods appreciate faster, even African Americans who are able to overcome their "starting point" are unlikely to accumulate wealth as fast as whites. Shapiro asserts this is a continual cycle from which whites consistently benefit. These benefits also have effects on schooling and other life opportunities

Found this little gem about what they consider " white privilege "

I'm beginning to think that they believe all white people are born with that magical "silver spoon" in their mouths

I'm still gagging from my silver spoon.

I hated having to get up and put my own clothes on after my parents sent our Butler packing

Then, I had to attend school with the common folk after father lost our fortune playing strip poker at the local house of ill repute

Mother was furious. Not only was she embarrassed by father losing our fortune, but explaining it to her friends at the Country Club was excruciating. Shortly afterwards, all the high class dinners and societal exploits were long gone

We had to sell everything, including the yachts, villas in France, and condos in New York

This is getting interesting now!

Missouri: Gary Pinkel and the Mizzou coaches have joined their players’ protest regarding racism on campus. The Tigers did not practice as scheduled on Sunday. In a statement, the school’s president did not say he will resign, but hopes to listen to all sides. In a joint statement, Pinkel and AD Mack Rhoades say the Tigers will not return to practice until student Jonathan Butler resumes eating. Butler is on a hunger strike until the school's president resigns for a failure to address racism. Read the full statement here. Missouri will provide further comment on Tuesday as this situation continues to develop. Missouri plays BYU in Kansas City on Saturday

I, like many, would like to know more about the rampant racism on Missouri's campus

Has it been happening for a long time?

If so, why have we not heard things about it before?

It's hard to take Social Justice Warriors serious when they take things out of context

This potentially is an "assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand" moment for college football. The consequences for this could result in a separation of the major programs not only from the NCAA but also their schools. They will have to distance themselves from the Universities in order to take the necessary actions to ensure the survival of the 'business'.

Think back 100 years. Racial prejudice was basically socially accepted. We had segregation as law

So African Americans lived in communities, together, away from white folk.

They had worse schools and thus worse education.

I won't even get into the other things, but essentially, segregation only ended 51 years ago. It will take a few more generations to mend the effects segregation had on black communities.

So yes, while the same barriers may not currently exist for African Americans today as they did 50 years ago, there are still some very significant after effects that have not totally faded.

I took tennis lessons for a few years; definitely a white privilege sport.

Pinkel and his staff are idiots for getting involved in this. This is a horrible precedent.

Yeah no one dares to go against the #BlackLivesMatter tidal wave right now..there were a couple of Dem politicians that declared that #AllLivesMatter and were forced to retract it..its also the same with the Redskins and Cecil The Lion..the only people that have a problem with either are special interest groups that aren't even affected by either situation

No matter the reason for it, Gary Pinkel just made College Football a weapon and pointed it at the school's president. Any university president who's school has a major college football program will now see the program as a potential threat to their regime. Most will be too good of a politician to stand idly by. They will work to neuter that threat. The only way to do that is to either shutdown the program or have it spun off into a separate entity.

This whole situation going on there is a shame, a joke and nothing but attention seeking.
