Of course. Look how lucky Florida got with a backup kicker playing completely uninspired against a s****y Vandy team. Happens all the time. Going by what the players are saying that game should've been out of contention early. Both sides of the ball didn't play well and the players know it. It's obviously great to come out with the win. Even with a win it's ok to critize the mistakes for a game that shouldn't have been that close. The players definitely know that. We looked elite for a little bit in the first quarter. Then let down, and fought for the victory. Happens to every team. So it's ok to critique and give praise in my book. Without critique, you're just a boring sunshine pumper..

A team can always get better and strive for perfection. But close wins against inferior competition happen every year. The gnashing of teeth is just ridiculous. I would have loved to see a 20+ point win. It would have saved some anxiety last night. But our program right now needs to celebrate these wins.

I don't see anybody saying the gators aren't the East champs because they barely beat Vandy.

I'm just thankful we won the game- how many times would that have gone the opposite way? Yes it was ugly and really uncalled for when we should have won comfortably but we found a way to win. Now, what's this about Dobbs admitting we took our foot off the gas?? Why in the world would we continue to think 14 pts is enough?? Smh but like I said we won!!! I'll take it any way we can get it.

Wowsers, this is going to be the story of the week.

Looking for an excuse to avoid getting their ass beaten by Tennessee imo.

If Florida plays Bama in the SEC Championship they may get shut out. I still believe we are the best team in the East. Just didn't know how to finish early in the year. The finishes in the USC an Georgia games make me think we've at least learned that. Now we need to learn how to dominate the teams we are supposed to beat.

It is the arm in this play as it was where forward progress was gained.

The play should not have been reviewed.

The ball did come out before the whisp but forward progress had already been established with possession. End of play.

Refs made a mistake looking at replay. You can't review forward progress.

Forward progress is reviewed all the time in making a spot.

How's that compare to Dooley? I thought my TV told me a few weeks back that they were basically identical.

:-/

Dooley finished at Tennessee with a 15-21 record.

Butch will likely never even be close to .500 for the rest of his tenure here, let alone below it by several games.

Watching the sports source earlier today a question came up about the rumor of Dormady transferring.

I didn't put much stock into it, because if there is a rumor it's on volnation and I can't find anything current.

Had anyone else heard this?

The actual fumble was not the issue on Kamara's play. It was the clear recovery. The first USC player picked it up but lost the ball again when a UT player got his hand on the ball. While this is happening, the whistle was blown. The ball is loose and then another USC player fell on the ball. But because the whistle was blown, other players were not trying for the ball. If a player had come in and cleared out, they would have called a penalty for being late (which they did on Weisman away from the fumble).

IMO, you cannot call that a clear recovery after the whistle has blown. If the first USC player had kept possession, then I wouldn't have had an issue with it.

The rule is, even if the whistle is blown, you keep trying to recover because replay will award it to whomever clearly recovered it, regardless of whether the whistle was blown or not. Unless the whistle was for forward progress.

Forward progress is reviewed all the time in making a spot.

It's not reviewable in regards to turnovers. In plays where a fumble is caused, you cannot review whether forward progress was called at the correct time.

I'm not doubting you. Seemed like the radio call said the ref referred to "forward progress" when affirming the ruling on the field. That's where I am coming from. I am not sure whether the replay official was keying of a the raised hand or forward progress.

Trust me, I'm celebrating with you and every vol fan out there. The win was great. I'm just going by what the players are saying. They let up. Shouldn't been close, that's it. We all want to see an 8-4 finish with a great bowl win to go 9-4. Just hoping there won't be a few more ugly wins to get there. Could happen. This season has been exhausting enough with those painful losses.

Yes, but this play was clearly different. If the first USC player had maintained possession, I had no problem with it even though the whistle was being blown. But he didn't, and the play didn't end there. You can't have it both ways. You can't expect players to fight for the ball after a whistle yet not commit a personal foul or physically fight for it. It was just messed up, and IMO, the clear recovery was not as apparent. In that case, the official just needed to eat his whistle and let it play. In fact, I believe he was pointing down which cause players even more to not go after the ball.

To me, we were much more lucky against UGA. Davis drops a wide open TD in which no one was around. The Chubb injury (which sucked, and I am happy to hear he is going to be ok) also helped the defense. Last night, Foreman made a smart football play. It was our own fault last night was a close game.

I think some of us are forgetting an important player last night. Medley. Without 42 yard FG we go to OT and possibly lose.

As for UNT, you have to limit Dobbs playing time to a quarter or maybe the half. Same for Hurd and and several others. Need to be heathy for Missou, if they even have a team by then!
