But teams win like we did every year across the country. We only care because we closely follow our team. We have lost games like we played last night. Our defense didn't get stops in 3 of our losses this year, and it's good to see that someone made a play. You can't have it both ways when you criticize them when they lose. Have to praise when they win.

This. While we all know there's a certain element of luck sometimes, a great majority of what is usually referred to as luck is a result of someone(s) determination and/or preparation.

If that forced fumble happens on South Carolinas 30 yard line, would this luck accusation change?

I say yes. It would turn to a conversation that Bama fans had two weeks ago

Yep. Adams fumbling unforced would have been luck. Foreman properly executing a strip is not.

I went over to the FF thinking it would be OK since it was a win. I expected some criticality. That's fine.

While most that participate over there are OK, and some are understandably critical, there are at least five or six posters who must not be able to enjoy anything--ever.

We did win, right? After reading over there, I wasn't sure.

I came in here about to post the same thing. It's almost as if they are trolls. It's one thing to discuss ways we can improve. But they are almost pissed we beat USCe.

Meh, disagree. It was lucky. Dobbs said after they scored so easily, twice, they let off the gas. SC got back in the game. And we had two final possessions in the 4th to get first downs to win the game. Instead it was three and outs, giving SC every chance to win or tie it up with a field goal. Foreman's play was great determination. But we got lucky they didn't tie the game. The momentum was in their favor if they did. This game should've been over in the first half, the team knew it, and we knew it. So to me it was lucky for this team to pull out this win after kinda give up so early in the first half.

WE (UT fans) got lucky. Lucky that we get to enjoy another week after a win. Malik Foreman and JRM made a great football play at a crucial moment of the game. Games are 60 minutes.

Not arguing with you. Our difference is probably just semantics.

One thing I noticed yesterday, our 1st team, on both sides, were gassed in the second half. That's the first time I've really seen that this year.

Depth.

To defend Mathews a little I didn't think tkjr was very good yesterday

I would have to go back and watch him specifically for this game, but he's had other very good games. He may have just been off last night. He may be one of the players Butch said is playing banged up. He may play better next to Randolph than Berry. I think Matthews is reaching a little.

It is interesting that both Matthews and Swain have said something similar now though. Most blew it off when Swain said it, but now it's worth at least keeping an eye on.

I think you agree with his assessment overall...I don't. He's been a spot starter and top backup for two seasons...to make a final judgement based on what we've seen so far?...hack move by Matthews. He may end up being right but I've seen better reasoned analysis on a MESSAGE BOARD.

If he blew the whistle on that play it should have been blown on the Kamara play. We get jobbed every week. Here's another example.

Kamara's came down to the knee being down, which is objective, while the other was about forward progress, which is completely subjective. I would've loved for SC's to be a fumble but Kamara's was clearly a fumble while the other could've gone either way and really came down to the initial ruling.

Kelly's level of play has been good. His body of work for a true sophomore in limited playing time speaks for itself.

People looking to criticize are off base here.

There is a thankfully small segment of the fan base that can't have anything nice. Some are just miserable. Some are invested in failure at this point, I guess so they can be "right". Some are just spoiled or have zero perspective.

I honestly can't comprehend why a lot of them bother following. I think for a lot of them, its the contrarian mindset the Internet and social media has given a lot of 20 and 30 somethings that makes them harp on the negative. No clue what the older ones issue is.

Of course. Look how lucky Florida got with a backup kicker playing completely uninspired against a s****y Vandy team. Happens all the time. Going by what the players are saying that game should've been out of contention early. Both sides of the ball didn't play well and the players know it. It's obviously great to come out with the win. Even with a win it's ok to critize the mistakes for a game that shouldn't have been that close. The players definitely know that. We looked elite for a little bit in the first quarter. Then let down, and fought for the victory. Happens to every team. So it's ok to critique and give praise in my book. Without critique, you're just a boring sunshine pumper..

I don't agree with his overall assessment but I do think he knows a hell of a lot more than me

The same crowd that was sick of moral victories has now grown quite tiresome of moral losses. I guess that's a byproduct of progress.

Even the threads congratulating individual players are drawing whiners.

The actual fumble was not the issue on Kamara's play. It was the clear recovery. The first USC player picked it up but lost the ball again when a UT player got his hand on the ball. While this is happening, the whistle was blown. The ball is loose and then another USC player fell on the ball. But because the whistle was blown, other players were not trying for the ball. If a player had come in and cleared out, they would have called a penalty for being late (which they did on Weisman away from the fumble).

IMO, you cannot call that a clear recovery after the whistle has blown. If the first USC player had kept possession, then I wouldn't have had an issue with it.

Bust. Get rid of him.

Not Eric Berry. Why does Butch put these guys on scholarship? IMO he recruited for stars to be a snake oil salesman to the fan base. That's why he says the same things all the time.

Just trying to trick us into buying in.

Not this guy. I know what he's up to.
