2016 Election

Your right, but I'd like to know why this country needs a person riddled with scandals, lies, and corruption?

My guess is that he's in the Ras camp and views her election as the trigger that blows the country up.

If TV existed over the course of American history half of the greatest leaders we've had wouldn't get elected based on looks alone. Call it the Kim Kardashian factor.

I don't think we've had more than a few great leaders anyway

Let me get this straight: when considering the last 150 years of American History and the leaders therein you compose a list that is made of only Eisenhower and Coolidge?

If we are talking POTUS, yeah pretty much. There were some decent-to-fair presidents, but nobody I would consider great.

Oh, you mean kind of like "I can see Russia from my house!" comment that was entirely fabricated on an SNL episode, yet used by every left leaning loon as "fact"?

Kinda like those made up lies?

Uhhhh. I guess. I don't hold SNL to the same standard as presidential candidates, though.

But dont u find it faacinating that Palin is credited for actually saying that by the left? And not just the loonies either... it is mainstream left that makes those statements aboutPalin.

Even though you'll disagree, Reagan should be in your mix as well. You'll look at his economic policies only and call him a failure. But the man brought us out of the 70s funk as well as unifying a nation torn by post Vietnam tensions. There's something to be said for a man that wins 49 of 50 States in his reelection. Obviously the majority of people thought he was doing a good job and believed he deserved a second term.

It's not always about a single scope of a Presidency. The man knew how to compromise and work across the aisle. He knew what to say and when to say it and brought comfort to a nation time and time again. And I personally believe the Challenger Disaster speech was one of the best speeches given by a President in modern history. Provided Peggy Noonan was behind the scenes on a great many of those, his delivery, and sincerity, was what counted.

I know I won't change your mind on this and you'll point to several things you disagree with, but Reagan was the President we needed at the time.

Peggy Noonan was on the Today show (I think) a few days ago and they discussed that speech. Apparently RR didn't like the ending (escaping the surly bonds of earth and touching the face of god) and wanted to remove it but she convinced him to keep it.

Amazing how speech writers play a part of creating a lasting legacy.

The inclusion of Coolidge in the great leader category has me confused Huff.

I like small government, laissez faire peeps.

Historians are generally dip****s in their analysis of POTUSs. If you didn't face a catastrophe, they generally dismiss you. If you caused a catastrophe, often times they like you. It makes no sense.

Historians are story-tellers and they don't like boring eras in history, even though that usually means things were good.

You are so full of $hit here. Not only because they don't do that but also because "Great men are defined by the tragedies they face." -Aristotle.

I don't disagree with Aristotle. He wasn't talking about Lincoln killing hundreds of thousands of Americans when he said this. He wasn't talking about FDR exacerbating the great depression. He wasn't talking about Wilson daring the Germans to sink the Lusitania. He wasn't talking about Andrew Jackson treating Indians like ****.
