Long, long way off... but that's where I'm at. And that could still get you into the playoffs, depending on where that second loss is.

Agreed and I won't predict who the wins are against but I say split the 4 hardest and the rest is gravy.

We would absolutely murder roughly half of the teams in the top 25, we would convincingly win against most of the remaining teams, and then would be able to hang tight with the remainder.

Yep. It's unfair how most top 25 teams are only there because their easy as **** schedule.

I've realised most around here don't watch any football outside of the Vols once a week. If they did, they would know A&M can't stop the run and can't run the ball.

We're gonna run all over them next year.

I watch some but I have a simpler method for looking a season from now:

talent & coaches

A&M has a decent level of both. You'll have teams like Auburn that defy the math but overall it works pretty good. UF on paper has more talent this year. OK was equal. UHA and Bama had more too, and the one outlier was AR.

We should surpass UF in talent next year if we have a decent class but it will be close. A&M will be in the same camp. UGA and Bama will be the lone true disadvantages on talent.

Just got back from the Georgia Southern game. Good time, cool environment. They still talk about beating Florida a couple years ago...and it still makes me jealous.

So looking at next year and that 4 game stretch, Florida will be without Grier, loses Taylor, and a ****load of defense right? Bama loses Coker, Henry, and a ****load of defense, OJ Howard? A&M, I have no idea, Georgia will be Georgia if Richt is back. Who will be favored over us?

For me when calculating rankings it should take 2 wins in B1G and the ACC to equal 1 SEC win. Sorta kidding

Sometimes I wish we could get like a one year Big Ten or ACC membership just to right the ship. Can you imagine if we had Iowa's schedule? We're a playoff team. Ugh.

I expect UF to have a let down year due to draft. I expect Bama to be Bama and reload. A&M and UGA who knows but I think those two decide 10 or 11

I've totally thought that several times. Eff the SEC schtick. Give me an undeserved playoff birth.

The only bright side for us with all the injuries this year is we were forced into building depth for 2016.

I will say one negative now though. If this 2016 class finishes like I think it will hurt us in 2017 because we will lose a ton in 2016.

I get the SEC pride, though I've never bought into it, but what difference does that really make? Ohio State isn't giving back their title from last year because their schedule was a joke. Florida State isn't giving back their title. Who cares how tough your conference is anyway? Is there really any doubt we would lay the wood to a SIGNIFICANT number of "Top 25" teams? But because we play in the SEC we're considered mediocre at best.

the playoff helps but not if the sec schools all knock each other out.

I came back around to that if you see my later post

I get saying less too because who knows with injuries. My theory is get to 9 win status and hope for health and some breaks. Looking around the SEC that is where the best teams are now. Bama almost went 10-2 thanks to us and they have every advantage in the universe. We were 2 injuries and a couple seniors short of that level now.

The closer we get to the game the more nervous I am. I know we're better than Kentucky, but Towles has some real talent throwing the ball and we have not been real great against that -- and of course the better team doesn't always win.

Hope there's no letdown after coming so close against Alabama. There shouldn't be based on what we've seen from Butch Jones's teams, though I worry about an Arkansas situation.
