i always thought it was funny how everyone was predicting that muschamp would turn that D around overnight. They have talent but they are soft. When you have a soft culture on your defense that doesnt change overnight. Same thing at South Carolina. Those guys just dont wanna tackle anyone.

Yep, Muschamp has some work to do. Are they running a new scheme this year too? It usually takes a season to get things down with a new Coordinator but they are loaded with talent.

Carl Lawson not being able to stay healthy has hurt them

The post-Saban years Muschamp has improved the D the most in his second season at Auburn (2006-07), Texas and Florida. It's hard to imagine it will not happen again next season.

DB has been an Auburn fan for quite a while now. They were always going to be in it to the end, as is UGA. MSU for family reasons. Come to think of it its a credit to Butch to be grouped with those that have the advantages over us. Still from what i gather noone has a clue where he ends up.

Since Tennessee didn't make a major move in the chase for Rivals100 defensive tackle Derrick Brown until earlier this year, Saturday's victory over Georgia was the first time the Sugar Hill (Ga.) Lanier prospect was inside Neyland Stadium for game. It's safe to say he picked a good game to make his debut on Rocky Top.

Brown enjoyed his time in Knoxville.

"It was loud. That's probably the loudest place I have ever been," the 6-foot-4, 320-pound Brown said. "When I left out of there I could barely hear because my ears were still ringing."

Brown, who is also one of Georgia's prime targets, said the Vols resilience was impressive after falling down 24-3 early.

"It was a well earned victory and they faced deficts and coming back from down 24-3 was pretty impressive," Brown said. "They did was they had to do. Josh Dobbs came out and led them to two touchdowns and that's when I felt like, 'oh, man. Tennessee is going to win this thing.'"

After the game Brown was in the Vols locker room to witness the celebration, as well as to spend some time talking with his primary recruiter and Tennessee defensive coordinator John Jancek.

"It was crazy in the locker room," Brown said. "Everyone was hype and just celebrating the win. It was fun."

Jancek has told Brown to pay extra attention to the Vols defensive linemen during the game, and Brown said he was impressed.

"They rotated a lot and the young guys made big plays," Brown said. "They are a dominant force. Someone would make a play then someone else would rotate in and make a play."

Brown said he and Jancek didn't discuss how he might factor into that rotation if he were to end up at Tennessee, but did say he will be back in Knoxville for an official visit before he announced a decision on Signing Day.

"I'm going to go back in January for my official visit," Brown said. "I haven't set it yet, but it will be one of those two weeks after the dead period."

I would love to get this guy. Our DL rotation would be insane. Plus they would all get better facing each other in practice everyday.

“It was good. It was my first game (there),” said Brown, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 10 overall prospect and No. 4 defensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite for the 2016 class. “I definitely expected it to be as loud as it was, for sure, and there was a whole bunch of people there. They pulled out a good win.”

“They’re definitely still one of my top teams,” Brown said. “I mean, (I like) just the atmosphere up there. It’s a family atmosphere, and that’s what I like most about it.” He said the sellout crowd of 102,455 at Neyland Stadium and the impressive atmosphere there “was definitely something great to see. It was crazy there,” he said.

“I mean, I’ve just got to find the place that’s right for me,” Brown said. “If that’s a team that’s losing a whole bunch of games or a team that’s winning a whole bunch of games, I’ve just got to find the place that’s right for me.”

“Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi State — that was the top five,” Brown said. “But we’ll see this week.”

Spent most of his time with CBJ, Gillespie, Jancek, and Stripling on the visit. Said it was good to see Tuttle and McKenzie getting opportunities to play, which shows that he will get opportunities. He is releasing an updated top 5 this week, which explains his final comment quoted above.

Also, said that those 5 would be getting official visits and that Tennessee would more than likely get one of those. They said it would still be a tough get, but they consider us to be the dark horse.
