Pretty sure I've seen comments from the beat writers that the staff would love to move Gaulden to safety so long as we have a capable nickel.

Maybe Desmond Henderson was recruited for that very purpose? To play nickel right away.

Nickel's have to be physical in run support and quick enough in pass coverage to cover slots... Cam is a perfect nickel type, but we can't afford to move him from CB unless we have someone who can shut down his man like him....

This is why losing Gaulden for the year and Martin missing weeks of preseason camp has really hurt us. We really needed Gaulden at NB and Cam at CB with a heathy Martin competing with Moseley for the other CB spot. Slightly less than that, we needed a healthy Martin to be capable of taking a CB spot to move Cam to NB after Gaulden went out. Alas, those two injuries have hurt us this year.

My bama friend sent me this from Bama's 247 site:

*** Peachtree Ridge (Suwanee, Gs.) safety Nigel Warrior continues to trend in the direction of Alabama and sources say that the Tide's lead has strengthened in recent weeks thanks to Warrior's relationship with Tide defensive coordinator Kirby Smart. Sources indicated that not only is Warrior talking up the Tide privately but he is also talking behind the scenes with teammate and consensus #1 cornerback for 2017 Deangelo Gibbs on how special it would be to play together at the next level. Gibbs is high on Alabama and if the Tide lands Warrior - which is looking more and more like a possibility - the Tide will have a huge in with the 6-foot-2 Gibbs.
